I like that the handles come off my socket chisels. Easier to sharpen for one, you can fit a longer handle when needed, etc. I just make sure I tap my chisel on the bench before I use it - backwards...

I really, REALLY like the curvature in the chair seats (first pic). The "drop" you added is going to enrich the design even further.
Hi Greg, thanks for sharing - those all look like pretty cool projects.
Breathtaking. If only I could have explored places like that during my short visit... as for the boxes, they're beautiful; not sure if I'd carve them though.
Assuming you mean the stock guides and not the featherboards (which I like a lot actually). I have the stock guides on my table saw and really like them. I got a set for the router table though and...
I don't think 8/4 is enough for that piece, which means have fun finding kiln dried material of proper thickness (for me anyway). Regardless, assuming the stock is available (and the piece is for...
It seems like you still have to get that log flat and square to use that saw, no?
Depends on how much of a hurry you're in I suppose. I like doing it in stages if possible.
Oh that makes sense. Thanks.
Hi Bruce, I'm curious, how do you imprint your signature. That looks really well done.
Oh, another project - very nice. I'm happy to watch along.
I put a 600 grit cbn on my tormek and absolutely love it - I do however use the platform for free hand sharpening of turning tools alittle bit more than the jig. I've also had the chance to try out...
Good call, especially thinking ahead to working space. Stuff works differently once all is setup and I guarantee you'll move more than a few things around, a few times. Something else to consider is...
Looks great! Sad to hear that the school is closing though. I'm a huge fan, met him at LN a bunch of years back and felt like he was a good person to shake hands with. I've wanted to attend a class...
Superlative work - really enjoyed watching along!
Ron, I honestly can't think of a better word than "pretty". Really, they look fantastic (especially the brownish). I hope you post about the durability once they've had a chance 'break-in'. Are you...
If you're building it, go bigger, as big as you possibly can. I have a 25x30 and an additional room that's 15x22 and I'm still buried once a job starts. It looks perfect and functional when it's...
Wire brush like a madman and maybe run a hand plane over first. A #4 can be sharpened much faster than a planer blade.
Another vote for aligning both the blade and fence to the miter slot. Choosing a single reference point reduces the margin of error.
I have the woodcraft model and omg is amazing. I bought it a while back (before the pricing insanity started) and feel its the best 150 bucks I've spent in years. I feel it offers all that the...
Idk what you guys are putting through your 0858's that's bogging the machine down. Mine eats anything I throw at it and no complaints at all on finish, etc.
Why not a dado? For such a small piece as a bridle joint, it should work fine. You can also use a spacer (same size as the tenon) between the two outside cutters and cut both sides of the tenon in...
I don't like melamine outside of utility purposes. How about lining the shelves with a colored laminate and edging the shelves with wood to match the rest of the cabinet?
Thanks, Glenn. I'm rethinking layout so may not need that high off the ground. But I'd still like to get it mobile. You add 1 little tool to the shop and suddenly nothing at all fits even though...
You can clamp the dowels with regular clamps just using a square corner of a piece of stock and clamping to two sides. That said, I agree with Jim that you need splines.
