I's like to buy a #67 "universal" spoke shave in good user condition (or better). Would prefer the later version with L and R handles. it doesn't need to have both sole plates - but probably...

Chris Pye has a book out on the subject.. Lettercarving in Wood: A Practical Course. I have this, and found it very helpful. He is very detailed with how and why.
