If they're load bearing then by all means have an engineer look over and plan it out. You can get steel studs up to about 12ga. Even the 20ga like I'll be in sing is night & day different than the...

I don't see any mention of steel studs so I'll be the oddball- you should use 20ga steel studs. Cheaper than wood right now and they're straight! I'm about to be using some for interior 12ft walls in...
I'm in SW Georgia about 60 miles from the gulf as the crow flies. No insulation plus AC = major condensation problems. I'm renovating a 60x80 steel building now which was built in the 30s best we can...
guys I live and breathe logistics- LTL, hotshots, full size flatbed/van etc. Like has been mentioned LTL is a great option IF the seller is willing to (and capable of!) properly secure and protect...
Thanks Jim I'll have to make one of those!
Lessons learned so far -
-Keep my damned pinky out of the way!
-Keep a bottle of liquid bandage nearby...
-I think I want to pickup a few duplicate...
Jim I only sawed at a diagonal and chopped/pared the rest
Thanks Bill a good friend on another forum gifted me that mallet!
OH and I have to give Matt Evans a shout out- I'm finally putting a few miles on his bench-on-bench moxon setup!
Here's a retake...
D'oh I didn't lay the saw up there for the picture! I tried both and used a traditional dovetail saw, it felt best to me
I'm building a desk for my daughter and have done a few practice through dovetails then I jumped straight into the half blind drawer front, they can only improve from here and I'm pleased with this...
Oh yeah the cork reminded me, not sure why I didn't mention it before but golf balls make great file handles too! I've got them on my bigger lathe files
Wood handles simply push onto the tang. No epoxy needed. Files only cut on a forward stroke, you should lift it to pull back, there won't be any pulling action to loosen the handle. They don't lend...
Update - I ordered the dispoz-a-blade setups from grizzly, fingers crossed they work in my cutterheads then I'll just order some spare knives from dispoz-a-blade. I'll update once I get them...
If you get the 1-1/2" bit you'll have to use 2x material for the template to get a shallow enough first pass- the 1" bit should work nicely with a 3/4 template.
No clue Patrick, it was in a commercial cabinet shop, I'd guess it was something more like Mike detailed - a glove, knot, who knows what got pulled in. They are replaceable plates on either side,...
Haha Patrick that infeed is the reason I only paid $400 for it. Everything else is great, could use a good cleaning and some fresh paint though. I have the materials to machine a new aluminum infeed...
It's one of the many Taiwanese jointers, probably from the same plant as one of the big names.

Thanks Robert that's one thing I was afraid of since the Byrd gives you all carbide. On the dispoz-a-blade setup I can have hss and kobalt (I thought it was cobalt but they spell it with a k on the...
Good morning everyone! It's been a while since I have been in the creek - I thought I'd get some opinions here. I need to get new knives for my new-to-me 12" jointer. It's a Chung Kung machine, works...
Julie I'll throw in a mobile base recommendation for the Portamate brand, I have their highest rated one and a medium one (3500 & 2500 I think). The big one is under my 12" jointer and my 6yr old...
I'm sure the tools mentioned favorably here are fine (I'll be cuddling out that spindle sander myself now) but friends don't let friends buy Wen planers. A friend of mine has one of those...
You need dust collection and/or mobile bases to roll tools into the driveway. I suppose you could hang a curtain of some sort but it won't be a replacement for dust collection, or just making the...
I've had these butcher block countertops but they were just sitting on an open 2x4 frame with stuff piled up underneath. My dad scored some base cabinets for me (from the same building my wall...
