Here is a file in v10 for the outline. It can be cut in any material and then used for holding the tags. I hope it helps.

The way I do it is to select the dimension tool and add a dimension between 2 points. I then select all and drag to re-size. The dimension will adjust to give the new measurements.

The only time I have ever had issues was when I had the text tool selected and tried to import. Make sure you have the pick tool selected. That is the arrow. I don't know if that is an answer for you...

Raster mode, for sure. I've done 1000's of wine glasses and never cracked one. I don't use newspaper. I engrave, with a 40W Epilog, at 600dpi, 45sp and 100 power. Hope you get your issues figured...
