I have ordered from the showroom and as far as I can tell the prices are no direrent than Woodcraft
I bought a set of Steelcraft socket butt chisels at a flea market this weekend. They are in the origional wooden box. There are 8 from 1/4" to 1 1/4". Anybody know any thing about them?
I've got way too many L-N 's sorry just can't help it. My fav is the 4 1/2 followed by the LA block.
I have the Ricon and a 14" jet with a 6" riser. The Ricon is smoother running and and able to resaw better that the Jet. I keep a 1/4" blade on the jet and a resaw blade on the Ricon. If I could...
I saw Norm build on of these a couple of weeks ago and this is my version of it. I changed the legs and left off the shelf. It's made of reclaimed pine and finished with...
I find that it all depends on the piece of wood you are working with. Sometimes a scraper will give a better surface and sometimes it a plane.
Sorry about the photo quality http://www.ncwoodworker.net/pp/data/500/medium/100_1000.jpg
Beautiful piece of work as usual. Your designs are a great inspiration to us all. BTW that's one vicious looking animal.
Mike, this is the only pic I had of it open http://www.ncwoodworker.net/pp/data/500/medium/100_0962.jpg
Michael, I applied a stain coat of Minwax Red Mahogany and a couple of coats of thinned amber shelac before any inlay work or glue up. After the inlay work and glue up I finished with 3 coats of...
I finished this mahogany Federal style card table last week. The cross banding is zebra wood, the stringing is holly and the medalions are from...
I've got a set of Sorby paring chisels and they are completely useless. You can actualy see the curl after a couple minutes work.
Does anyone have any experience with them? Are they worth the effort and price ($40 at L-N)?
I agree with Hank, mine is not used a lot but when there's a particulary nasty piece to smooth, the 112 usualy works great.
Has anyone got a L-N 10 1/4 Bench Rabbit plane and are they useful in furniture work? I've got several other L-Ns and was wondering about one of these. Yeah Yeah, I know, I've got it bad.
I didn't believe the LNs and LVs were worth the extra dough until I was in Woodcraft a few years ago and expressed my feelings to a clerk. He took a LN41/2 off the shelf and let me take a few curls...
My son who is new to wood working wants a small TS for Christmas. He doesn't have enough room for a contractor size. I saw the Hitachi C10FR job site saw in Lowes. Any body know anything about them?
I used 5/8 OSB and it works great ( OSB because it was cheaper )
Does anyone know where I can get one of the two blade adjusting wheels for either a Stanley 112 or 12 scrapers? These are the wheels that lean the blade forward or backward. I have a nice 112 that...
Rick, Don't feel like the redheaded stepchild, I've bought a boat load of junk/tools that either didn't work or I had no real use for them. My biggest problem was buying cheap junk instead of...
I've got an old #5 with the iron ground to about a 3" radius. I use some reclaimed lumber and it works fine when I need to clean up a board that is too dirty to put into the planer or jointer. Find a...
You lucky dog...I've been looking for a #2 user for some time now with no luck.
Rockler has dowels that you can use for spindles but only birch walnut cherry and oak. Lee Valley sells dowel cutters that work very well. I have a set of them and use them frequently. Also, you...
