I plan to build a Lutyens garden bench. I believe these were originally made from teak. Mine will be outdoors, so I do need to use wood suitable to that environment. However, I just priced teak...
I'll second what Steve said about brushes with synthetic Taklon gold bristles. I never had very good luck brushing shellac until someone turned me on to this brush.
Just a follow up. I did go with the Waterlox, my first time using it. I wanted a high gloss finish. Per the manufacturer's instructions, I brushed on two coats of the Original first. (I tinted...
Thanks, Howard and Shawn. I am going to use the Waterlox. I appreciate the advice.
Thanks, Shawn. Yes, the ship has sailed on the oak veneer plywood. It's a long story.
I need some advice on an appropriate finish. I'm building a bartop for a friend's poolhouse. The bar is totally out of the weather in a well covered area, but the space is largely unconditioned. ...
Thanks, Victor. I look forward to hearing a further report when you've been up and running a while. I am encouraged by your effort.
Victor:
I am interested in moving my dust collector outside like you did for noise reduction and to gain a little extra floor space inside my shop. I have a couple of questions. I assume you...
Larry, thanks for the link. Very helpful to your fellow creekers.
:D I never even knew I wanted to make a bandsaw box. But now I think I'll have a go at it. Thanks.
I didn't use it in my shop (built on slab), but I did recently added it to my master bathroom. We have a conventional HVAC system, but everything in the bathroom is tile, which tends to feel cold...
I hate getting this kind of information - it's the same as finding out your favorite food causes cancer. We have a Duet washer and dryer combo, about 3 years old. No problem so far with the ...
I'm glad I read this thread even though I don't have a current plan to make a cutting board (I try to read through the new posts every day, if I have time.) I am constantly amazed at how many...
This may not be responsive, but I have a bookshelf with glass shelves that have plate grooves ground in them. I don't know where they came from, but I'd try other suppliers if my primary supplier...
Please count me in.
Sorry about the missing dimension. It ranges from 10" to 12" wide.
A friend who retired from the lumber yard business gave me a piece of heart pine a while back, 3" thick, 15' long. I have stored it in my shop waiting for inspiration as to what to do with it. ...
Bill, that is just too nice. Great job!:D
Isn't that Dewalt scroll saw nice?
One or two more. You can see I use the electric winch for moving the steps up and down, but I also attached, for safety reasons, a pulley rig to a chain to secure the steps in case of winch failure....
Let's see if I can post some photos.
Jim:
I did a similar thing to what you want to do, but on a smaller scale. My shop has only a 16' ceiling, which I like because you have plenty of overhead space, but I wanted to utilize some of...
