I have similar issues with both CO2 and Fibre units. You might adjust focus up or down to see if you can tone down the beam at your lowest setting that you can achieve firing. Hope it helps.

I like the simple, self lit-up acrylic.
I use Everything from Inkscape, GIMP, AutoCAD, and Paint 3D, but I use a commercial sign software to produce the final image/vectors, then import to Lightburn.

If you must solder... Remove the screw, Fab a piece of wire with a GOOD connector, solder to the screw, replace the screw.
I run 2.14.10 on 64bit Win 10.
I installed the LMCUSB.sys driver set.
Small enough to email.
The driver is Intel/AMD specific.
I would use another method. Heat can cause your tube to shatter or create a weak spot.
Use a terminal if possible.

Should have positive + at one end and negative terminal at the other. You may need to attach one or the other.

I start with a low 50khz freq and 80% power to blast away material (I blast carbon build-up). Then use a higher freq 100khz and lower power 50% to finish. Check/adjust focus.
Make sure your grounds are good.
