I bought my first saw. It's a disston d-100, the etching is faded but you can make out the numbers and I had my kids look through the handles at the disston website and it matches with the d100....

Yep, you don't even need to flatten the top, just a straight line and a plumb and level line on the ends. Works great for timbers that have a twist in them for pergolas and timber framing.
