Ben's great to deal with and has a wide selection. I know he has some cherry crotches and his block mottle veneer cherry is really nice and unusual.

I have a 310 also, if yours has a tersa head I don't think you will gain much (if any) improvement in cut quality changing to a byrd head

I made one that uses a chainsaw and runs on a track. I have a lot of fun with it although it is slower and more wasteful than a bandmill.
For me it fits my purpose exactly.
I didn't buy any...

It will warp and the bigger the piece the more it will warp. Use a slow setting veneer glue, I use veneer bond dry resin from www.pro-glue.com, it has a 15 to 25 minute open time which should...
If you "google wood magazine cyclone modifications" some good stuff pops up. I would also search Wood magazines forums as some of the links point there.
Good luck, I did the mods in an afternoon and...

I built one. Yours has not been modified, the mods make it work much better and are pretty easy to do. Mostly just opening things up

Nova ply is a prefinished plywood product so I wouldn't use that, you might be thinking of apple ply which is a domestically produced plywood similar to baltic birch. On the west coast you can...

I bought a Lenox brand steel cutting blade for my chopsaw and it works great. It is a normal looking blade not an abrasive one. I use it mostly to cut square tubing and ALWAYS clamp down the...
Chris,
Seems like with that budget you should have many more choices. Some of the old iron is missing some really nice features you can find on newer machines like tersa cutterheads, variable feed...

I think the biggest problem is that the grain is going the wrong way on the tenon, for it to shear like that the grain seems like it is going vertical and should be go horizontal for maximum...
