That’s what I was thinking. And yes, the two frame pieces that sit on the hardwood edge of your table would need to be long enough to move completely from one side to the other. You could also make...
For pieces that small, lose the power and hand sand. We’re talking minutes of work. And frankly, you’re going to want to hand sand anyway to remove any swirl marks.
Thank you all for the nice comments.
Mike A; you inspire me with every one of your projects...and thanks again for the help on this build.
Mike H; you inspired me from the beginning with your...
Great looking box, Todd. Very nice first hand tool project. Loved that hand tool work, didn’t you?!
John, couldn’t agree more on the oil finish method. Have done it numerous times with Watco on various woods and it leaves a glass surface.
I’d have to experiment a little, but was thinking just a 3/4” frame, a bit longer than the table width with an opening in the frame that would allow you to see what your doing, but still give good...
Beautiful drawing, Malcolm. You are certainly multi talented.
Thanks for that input Brian. Definitely on my try list.
I hope so Dale, would love to see more of your work.
If it were my table, I’d create a simple jig similar to a slab flattening jig and with a router remove all the veneer to just a HAIR below the existing solid wood border. Square up the corners with...
Well done, Bruce. Perfect for an outdoor application. And agree with the above, great when materials can be repurposed.
Nice till, Thomas. And yes, you may find no matter what size you build, it won’t be big enough eventually!
I also have a Dewalt jobsite saw. Infrequent use, but go to for rough dimension cutting is a Freud combo full kerf. For more accurate rips I use an Amana 20T full kerf, and for accurate crosscut...
Beautiful cutting board, Glenn. That will be well appreciated.
Nice. That took some careful measuring/alignment. Well done!
Great piece, Dale. Nice way to start off 2021. Just out of curiosity, how did you attach the drawer unit to the slab?
Well done, Tom. Gotta love organization. Need to do something similar one of these days.
Kevin, it means whether the veneer is flat enough to glue down as is or cut and edge tape it, or if it’s curly, wavy, etc and should be flattened before glueing down or cutting and edge taping.

I’d agree it’s likely not walnut. There are a lot of light toned burled veneers, and whether it’s oak or not, the oak veneer you pictured would be a good match. veneersupplies is a great source. ...
You sure get to work with some beautiful wood!
Hello Bill,
I’m very familiar with a saddle stool made by Lifeform Chairs in Canada. I find them very comfortable.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I’ve only used Titebond liquid hide glue, but have been interested in trying the Old Brown Glue. Didn’t know it was available powdered. Appreciate the input.
I use this Wile Plane Hammer from LV

I’ll add to the experiment, if you like. I have a David Baron 1:4 guide you can have as well. PM me your address and I’ll drop it in the mail. And to your “which one” question, when I use one, I...
