Nice job!! I'm glad to see those templates are being put to good use.
Not to sound like a broken record, but those Goldenrod Dehumidifers already mentioned in this thread are pretty freaking awesome. Of course, they are not suited to anything mobile. A wall mounted...
I just got done making a simple saw till and I used the saw with the thickest saw plate (0.042") to cut all the kerfs. After I installed it I found that it made installing and removing the saws from...

And I did exactly what you are describing. But I used epoxy to help hold the shaft securely.
And...
Thanks for the compliments!
I've made several dozen saw handles (open and closed) and as long as I am careful about the grain orientation (in regards to having it go almost parallel to the hang...
Thanks for the compliments. The apple handled saw went to a guy in trade for another tool. The elm burl handle is MINE. :D
Sure, if anybody wants to PM me about saw plates that can do that!

I think finding saws and using the old hardware is a GREAT idea! I mean, you can sometimes get them for next to nothing.
I found a couple of old beat up saws with trashed handles and rusted saw...
You've done nothing wrong
After an Evaporust soak you need to clean off the soaked parts. I use Mineral Spirits. Then you need to scrub the surface with a scotchbrite or even a fine brass wire...
Way to GO! That is a one fantastic lathe. I've had the honor of being there when Bill had it's "Welcome Home" party. I got to take that bad boy for a spin or two.
And you could not buy for a more...

While CA Glue excels that filling cracks and sealing small gaps, it is "brittle" when it dries. If the repaired joint is subjected to a shock, the repair may well fail. Because it is flexible, Epoxy...

I have the LN Large Scraper plane as well as a Stanley No12. When I got the No12 I bought a Hock Scraper Blade for it. But i was never able to get it to work as well as the old style thinner blades...
Well, I have a wife, a child and a job and still managed to make this, after work at night, over a period of 8 months. :D Yeah it took long. But I enjoyed it and learned a lot while doing it. Now...

I've gotten my horse stall mats wet plenty of times. Especially when turning wet wood. I never had a problem with slipping on them. Plus their weight makes vacuuming up a breeze. You can't say that...
I installed a Golenrod Dehumifier in my tool cabinet back in 2009. Like you mentioned, the brackets made it a snap to install. All I had to do was drill a couple of vent holes in the cabinet's...

Thanks for the kind words Mike!
Yup, slotted backs are in the future. As soon as my business partner finished re-assembling his milling machine we're going to make a couple and see how they go.
Nice work Mike! Are these the saw plates I made for you?
They actually work pretty well. I've been using it quite a bit since I built it a year ago. The cam clamps exert a lot of force for their size. I recently added leather to the jaw faces to help them...
+1 on the Goldenrod. I put one in my tool cabinet and it pretty much eliminated any surface rust issues caused by condensation. Wiping the tools down before putting them away helped also.
