I found little on youtube when I was starting I ended up buying DVDs, you often get what you pay for, so don't expect really good info for free. Some of my favorite instructors are Richard Raffan,...
Terminology can get quite confusing, such as this riddle describing an egg:
A box without hinges latch or lid, yet golden treasure inside is hid.
I would recommend buying a few instructional DVDs. Some of my favorite s are "turning projects with Richard Raffan" and "turning projects with Rex Burningham and Kip Christensen" I watched Kip live...
Just wanted to let you all know Woodworkers supply is going out of business. They have a few of their Woodtek brand of lathes left that they are letting go for a very good deal, if anyone is looking...
That's sad to hear. My only experience with John was at the Utah symposium. John brought his motorcycle and was driving it around the area. When it came time for his demo, he had been out riding and...

Ive got a jointer recently, but it has been out in the weather, and the machined surfaces of the table are rusty. What is a good way to clean off the table surface?
If it was me, I would borrow or rent a fork lift from nearby and load it. Or rent or hire a delivery truck like the ones at home depot, they carry a little foklift with them.
It is 450 lbs? I would get 4 people with strong backs and just grabb on and move it. Forearm forklift straps might help.
Thanks, mine was yesterday. And I got lasagna then a cake.
A lot of people are like wheelbarrows. They are no good unless they are pushed.
Wax is for selling. It looks good till you wash it. Some put oil on first so it still has the color, then the wax for gloss.
You could try linseed oil.
I coat the whole thing, and let it dry for six months or more. I do not use paper bags.
Anyone going to reply?

I could use one of those on my shop! Remember last winter I asked about heating? Its heated up now.
I have turned a lot of cottonwood, it is probably the most common tree where I live. I would say only to use figured pieces< burls, fiddleback etc. One thing I have noticed with it is you either get...
The only way I have ever stalled my Vic was using the McN center saver, not with a gouge. If it is tripping the breaker you might want to check into your shops electrical.
I have seen bigger, but that does look nice. If I could cut that off I would take it to a sawmill, and get it slabbed and make a table or desk top.
I have one, tell me what you want.
Thanks for the responses, I found a good deal on a Wurlitzer grand. Is it a good brand?
Most women would prefer beauty than brains... but that is fine because most men can see better than they can think.
