So, With your Epilog, is LB in the mix at all?
My understanding is that the only thing that will control an Epilog machine,, is an Epilog printer driver.
So my workflow would be : design in CD > Export into Lightburn > Print from Lightburn >...
I have used AI, and last few years CorelDraw 2019, and have stuck with CD, i just fits me better.
I have an Epilog Radius 25W that just keeps chugging along with a 20 year old Synrad tube that wont...
If a broken trace was the problem, it should be easily soldered or even jumped (bypassed as you said)
You said someone did repair it and it lasted a few hours. Either the repair (soldering) was not...
Thanks,
I am passing on it for now,, the seller is not providing good answers.
In reality, I could pick up a used Epilog Radius or Helix for $500-2000, Pull the servos, boards, wiring, and power supply,,, Install a Ruida controller,Install new servos/driver boards that work...
Thanks,
I'll look into it.
Agreed,,
18K is a lot for a Chinese laser,, US support or not.
Also,
Any idea what the differences are between the "pre 2010" and post 2010 Helix machines ?
My Epilog Radius is still chugging along fine, but is running on a 20 year old Synrad 25w tube.
I found a local Epilog Helix 35W, (~2007?) add says the tube needs to be replaced or recharged. They...
My Epilog Radius is still chugging along. It has a Synrad J48-2 (25w?) tube from 2002,, I have had the machine for 4 years and have not noticed any decline in power from when I bought it. (I have...
Wow,
Time flys by.
I never updated this thread.
The issue was a loose set screw on the intermediate shaft of the X axis.
We are finalizing a design /build of a 4 axis router built specifically to route out gun stocks from laminated blanks. That is all this machine will do, typ turn out "one of" custom carved stocks.

Got a little side tracked,, but actually getting back on this project with help from a VT electrical engineer and programmer :)
Getting ready to ask some CAD questions in the CAD forum
Wes,
Thanks for the info on the mill bits,, I am sure it will be a learning curve, but that gives me a starting point.
For me, building a gun stock specific machine should be basic (not quite...
Thanks for your reply.
Yes, the hand finishing is what will "make or break" the finished stock.
My strong area is fabrication, mechanical and electronics, My CAD is week, only from lack of time....
I do not plan on going into "mass production", I am more dissatisfied with the products currently available and I am initially exploring "one off" examples for my own use.
"If" there ends up being...
Been a while,, life gets in the way. Anyhow:
Hobbyist level, I have built 3D printers and refurbished an old Epilog Laser, Now I am looking at building a task specific 4 axis router for gun...
Kev,
The table literally rides on the belts, no lead screws.
I did spend some time and there appears to be some allen screws that adjust the table,, not sure on the whole procedure.
Nick
Problem with owning an older machine, tech manuals are not online.
Does anyone have any experiance leveling an Epilog Radius table.
When I am focused in the upper left (home), I am 3/16" low in the...
Thanks,
I was actually I tile shops yesterday, looking for "black" slate tile.
I did a countertop 15 years ago in black slate 6x6, 6x12, etc.
Can not find any now, I'll look them up
Waiting for it to arrive,, I have my digital calipers ready :)
I have a wood/metal shop, but it's not worth my time.
The round black plastic "pucks" do the job. She can whip out a sign/picture and stuff it in a $5 puck and it is a fully functioning lighted...
You know it will work, I know it will work. But giving someone a gift with some "duct tape" wrapped around it to make it fit,, just doesn't look good :)
Found some 4mm on ebay,, but literally...
I learned long ago,
Someone with little talent or gift, can buy the best best software package and equipment and still will produce poor artwork,, While a good artist will produce beautiful things...
