I have another idea rolling around in my head that I may try. Not sure if it will work but it might be worth a try. If it works, I will be sure to share.

That is definitely a possibility. I do not know how accurate my skills are with hand tools maintaining the 42-degree angle and the oddball shape of the handrail.
No worries. It was a difficult situation to describe. Thank you Jim for all the suggestions and help. Once I get this project done, hopefully I can share pics of the end result.
There are not plugged holes. I believe it was glued or epoxied using mortise and tenons.
I like that idea too but I do not have an OSS that has a tilting table.
Hi Kevin,
The reason for the project is they want to upgrade their newel posts to give them more of a Craftsman style but without taking apart any of the railings or existing newel posts since...
Those are all great ideas. Last night I dug through my scroll saw blades and found a spiral cutting bit. I then traced out the profile of the handrail onto a scrap piece of wood. I then loaded up...
Thank you Malcolm! I was just wondering about that. If I keep the board always oriented in the same direction and just follow the shape of the handrail profile, never rotating the board that should...
I have a project where I need to cut a really difficult shape through a 3/4" board at a 42-degree angle. The difficult shape is a stair handrail that intersects the board at a 42-degree angle. The...
The Powermatic is essentially a rebranded Axiom. I believe Axiom actually supplies them for Powermatic.
I am on v9.5 of Aspire right now. I am thinking about upgrading to v10. Does anybody off the top of their head know the upgrade cost from v9.5 to v10?
I recently (well within the last year) purchased a CNC router (very heavy) and hired a local piano moving company to carry the CNC router down to my basement workshop. My stairs make a 90-degree...
As far as Cermark being Dishwasher safe, yes it is. However, correct me if I am wrong but I believe Yet's and other double-walled vacuum sealed drink coolers are to be hand washed and not put in a...
Hi John,
Out AR8 Pro is still performing great. The only couple of minor issues I have had I was able to fix myself. First was one of the wires for the touch-off puck came loose "inside" the...
Hi Kirk,
We have an Axiom AR8 and it is a solid well built (very heavy) machine. Of course it is not in the league of those $50,000 machines either. We too have a an Epilog laser and the AR8...
That is very nice Gary! Great job on the inlay!
Hi John Krumlauf, we picked up our Axiom from Wood Werks in Columbus too. Axiom Precision is actually connected to the same building as Wood Werks.
How have you been liking your Axiom? We have...
We have the Axiom AR8 Pro (2' x 4') and it has been incredibly accurate, reliable and capable. The closed-loop water cooling for the spindle does great. We have run many several-hour jobs and the...
We ended up buying the Axiom AR8 Pro and I would agree with Ed Vitanovec's assessment. The Axiom is one stout machine with its heavy steel construction. Just a word of advice if you do go with an...
Hi Nebjosa,
We have an Axiom AR8 Pro and love it. We've had it a couple of months and it has worked flawlessly thus far. One downside I can come up with was getting it into our basement...
Good to know this about X8. I have BoxIt running on my X5 version and after reading this I will NOT be upgrading to X8 just to be safe. Awhile back I had issues trying to get X5 installed on...
Lee, that is how I was thinking the same sort of idea as to how it might be accomplished too. I started looking at the VBA PDF that came with my Corel CDs. Thank you for the link! I will check it...
Breaking apart all objects and visually selecting all vertical and/or horizontal segments would be very time consuming. I know that is one way. What I was looking for was a quicker way to...
Hello,
Does anyone know how in Corel to find portions of curves that are vertical (or horizontal)? I have several curves on a page and I want to be able to search for the "segments" of those...
I just saw this Instructable on a lower-cost method of measuring laser output. I have no idea if this works or not since I am by no means a technical expert when it comes to optics and laser output,...
