Johnny, you're right about the collet needing to be below the jig. I'm not sure I can squeeze out 1 1/2" by not putting it all the way into the collet.

My wife bought me the Rockler Box Joint jig for my router table. Unfortunately, the bit doesn't extend high enough to make a proper cut. It looks like I need another 1 1/2" to get the bit above the...
Awesome. Thanks for the input! It may just be worth keeping my sanity (and money!) by buying one instead of building.
My wife would like me to make a dresser that would match our daughter's Ikea desk. I assume this means making it from melamine or laminate wood. Are there any considerations I need to worry about...
Just finished the deck yesterday afternoon! Here are a few pictures of the project.

Thanks to everyone here for their advice as I trudged through it.
Thanks, Rich! I had heard about holding off until next year from another person just last night. Believe me, after dealing with the deck, I'm okay with waiting! I feel like there should be a better...
I saw this at HD AFTER I had finished demo. My first thought was WHY NOW?!?!?!? Of course, I've probably seen it there before and had no idea what it was.
Only about 12 more boards to go and...
I was just thinking of you guys! So, all of the screws are out, demo has been completed (finally). I started putting up the boards last week and I'm chugging along. I guess I'm about... a little over...
Thanks for all of the responses! I picked up some vise grips and an angle grinder. One of those things should help!
I brought it up to someone at work and he also suggested the angle grinder. So, looks like I'm getting an angle grinder! YAY MORE POWER TOOLS!
Ya'll helped me back in April with your comments re: replacing deck boards. The project has been a hell of an undertaking, as I'm seeing many things that need to be repaired or strengthened. Makes me...
I posted this in the "Projects" forum, but thought I'd put it here, too. I finished my first table over the weekend! Now I just need to make matching benches and the patio furniture will be done. I...
Just completed my first ever table! The top needs to be sanded and the whole thing stained and then it'll go to its new home on the patio. Sure, there are things I could've done differently, but I'm...
Finally! Something I can actually contribute to. Former Vanguard employee here on the "Institutional" side. My job was working on employer-sponsored retirement plans for all different sized...
I'm not entirely sure about the condition of the framing. I'll look at it when I start pulling up boards. I would have liked to pull all the boards out, but the deck is pretty big and we want to...
Thanks, guys! My plan is to basically take a full row of the boards, pull them up, check the joists, then install the new boards. Wash, rinse, repeat. They are held in with screws, but some of them...
One of my bigger projects this spring/summer is replacing deck boards. Is it possible (or even feasible) to replace one board at a time instead of just pulling up all of the boards at once? My...
I picked up my first Woodsmith plan and have some questions about how to properly read it. This is for their Kreg Jig workstation. In particular, I'm wondering how to read the dado & rabbet...
Thanks, guys! I figured I was overcomplicating it, but better to get confirmation than run off and just start cutting and assembling!
How does a planer affect the overall measurements of a project?
For example, let's say I'm working on a cabinet that has an overall length of 53 1/4". There are 4 dividers and three "cavities"...
I spoke with tech support. The problem was the magnet or something on the START button wasn't fully engaging the wiring (or something like that). Either way, it purrs like a kitten and cuts like a...
Lee, to say I don't have much electrical experience is an understatement. I can put in an outlet, but that's the about the extent of it! I'm having an electrician install some additional outlets in...
George,
I don't believe so. Usually when the breaker trips, the overhead lights go out. In this case, that didn't happen. I'll take a closer look when I get home.
Glenn,
The saw is pre-wired for 120v and can be upgraded to 240v. The issue "could" be related to the circuit size. I have 15a installed now, but it needs 20a to run.
Finally got my new Shop Fox 1837 assembled and calibrated! Went to do a test run, and it's not starting. Checked all the usual stuff, but nothing is obvious. Here's hoping it's an easy fix! Got lots...
