Wow, love 'em!
Next time you get the notice, click Set up Apple Pay, and then once the set up window appears you can click Cancel or Set up Later in Wallet. Either way, the notification should stop as you have...
I believe we aren't allowed to post links to other forums, but my search found his tutorial was posted on Family Woodworking (mods if this isn't allowed please act accordingly). I also found an...
This actually works. I recently cleared caches etc on my iPad and suddenly my login info wasn’t being retained and it kept having trouble redirecting after login. But I was landing on the main...
Very nice, David. Are the trees turned between centers with two off-axis points?
Thanks Chris. There is some variation in the thickness between species, but yes, standard thicknesses. This bunch I got from veneersupplies.com. I also have some Sauers veneer hobby packs. 4-5...
Thanks everyone for the kind comments. They are a nice size to show of the bling of the wood grain, and the shapes can be targeted to anyone’s taste.
LOL! They were a real mind bender 😂
Thanks, Mark. I don’t think there is a particular advantage to the flex CA in this application. I had been making rings using it for the improved water resistance and as a finish that will resist...
Hi, I wasn’t sure where to put these, but here goes. I have been playing with laminated veneer rings and bracelets with some nice figured veneers. Staring to get the hang of it, put the first coat...
The other problem is spoofing real numbers. Apparently my landline number has been "calling" people all over the country multiple times. And if they have caller ID, my name shows up. I come home...
Wow, awesome wood! That looks like a challenge to turn, you did a nice job.
Hi Ricc,
Although the mandrel is supposed to tap, I have had less success with it and bought a standard tap to do the initial threading of my blanks. Bear in mind, depending on your blank, the...
Wow, those are beautiful stoppers, I like your ornaments too!
Thanks Lawrence. Hmm, I'm assuming 'just set' epoxy will react even worse than the not fully cured epoxy I've tried turning that basically melted under the heat of turning/sanding into a bit of a...
Hi Dave, yes I cast the blanks using a pressure pot. I did the Harbor Freight paint pressure pot conversion so it cost around 100 if you already have the air compressor. Definitely worth it.
Thanks Robert. Yes I did the casting. Turning resin is more scraping than cutting, otherwise you get chip out. I have a ton of nice scrap yearning to be round. Think I have my weekend sorted! ;)
Beautiful work, you did that wood justice!
I really enjoyed reading the sphere series. I have used the octagon method before, (I think from a write-up by David Reed Smith). I need to try between cup centers. I'm adding a couple pix of...
Too big for kolrosing I think. Your location gives a good clue, I've seen similar "hook" knives used for carving totems and described on one site as Pacific Northwest style hook knives. I never...
They have a weird fuzzy layer (looks like red velvet) that gets everywhere and is not fun in your lungs, so mask up. That said, they are quite cool turned. You can fill the voids with colored epoxy...
I tend to recommend Howard Butcher Block conditioner to customers buying spoons or serving boards. It's a food safe blend of mineral oil and beeswax that they can find at the BORG. I normally use...
Northern california, backyard tree it could be Acacia of some kind.
Beautiful wood, Roger. Was it turned green? It looks like there was some interesting wood movement.
