Purpleheart is very dull / "gray" when it's first milled. It will brighten up considerably with time and light. I've yet to see Purpleheart turn brown.

    This.

Most woodworkers today only want lumber that's less than the width of their jointer. 6-8". Maybe 12". If it's wider it gets ripped. I am a fan of wide lumber myself, but I do acknowledge...

I had that same one and sold it for $200, which I thought was a really good price. I think I bought it for $150. That's way too high. Keep looking.

Simple green works amazingly for cleaning any sanding discs or belts. Even burnt-on gunk just falls off. Takes a little more work, but if you want a 100% thorough clean, it's the way to go.

You seriously overpaid. I'm in FL, which is about as expensive as it gets due to freight. 8/4 Hard Maple is $8.60/bdft near me. So $35 for that piece. Wherever you went, don't go back.

Dull knives are dull, but there's a huge range to describe "dull". It's largely opinion based. One person's dull is another person's "I could run that for another 6 months."

    The best way is...

    Hammer A3-26 replacement parts

I'm in need of a few minor replacement parts for a used Hammer A3-26 I bought. What's the best way to get these? I've never gone through Felder/Hammer since I just bought this from a local seller....

I've never heard of Frank Jones. Just based off that I'd probably lean towards Fay & Egan myself. It also seems to have more resaw height.

I agree here. I'm sure some shops run those saws for 8hrs a day under moderate load. I doubt an hour of unloaded running should do any harm at all. Something is not right..

I will say, since you converted it to single phase 5hp with a new motor and magnetic, that should help the sale quite a bit.

If it had a helical head in it you could probably get 3k for it, but...

One thing I'll add. I once had a much larger shop with a huge full-size 5hp cyclone with twin canister filters and ducting throughout. Then I downsized and ended up with a mobile Grizzly 2hp dust...

Both the Grizzly 21" and the Harvey Ambassador 14" have 14" resaw heights. I think he's aiming for a cheap third saw with a 12-14" resaw height so he doesn't have to remove the resaw blade on his...

No clue about the actual filler, but that "chisel" they sell seems like a terrible idea. Looks like a typical $10 plane blade with a block of wood glued on. And they want $70? The problem I see is...
