I had a lot of problems with the tension on my 14/12 Laguna. I was going by the marks on the gauge. Be aware the gauge, at least on my saw, is nothing more than a magnet. Just like a refrigerator...
I got an email from Chase Amazon card wanting me to verify a purchase of about $94 for food. I looked at my statement online. There were 2 other online orders for food the day before. Total was about...
Leslie Webb at heartwoodtools dot com (Texas) carries Australian toolmaker HNT Gordon products including their pattern maker’s vise and front vise. Worth a look.
I think both are really good. So much information presented in them that they are worth watching more than once. Both Curtis and Peter are excellent teachers. Not everyone who is an exceptional craft...

I made the tension gauge jig with a 10" span. I was able to easily set the tension at 20 ksi on the 3/8" 4tpi (i was wrong when I said it was 6tpi) blade. Time will tell if it helps with blade life. ...
John,
Thanks. Lots of good helpful info in your reply. I will make the tension gauge.

John, thanks for the info on your shop made tension gauge. How do you know what the tension should be for the blade? I know it will be different for spring steel, bi-metal, different blade thickness,...
I thought this looked interesting but I have not tried it yet. A jig to hold a dremel for consistent grinding while the blade is on the bandsaw.

Prescription medicine containers, quaker oat round boxes, plastic peanut butter jars. I agree with Jim, Altoid tins are great.
I've done that with a brad point bit. One of yours, Rob. Nice clean holes in wood, not so clean in fingers...
Thanks. Put my name in please.

Stanley Covington's blog is filled with wit and wisdom about all manner of Japanese tools. I look foreward to his latest. This is the last of his series on sharpening....
I used either a jig saw or coping saw, file, sandpaper. If I was making it now I would use a band saw, entering and exiting through the same kerf.
This is the one I made back in 2012. If I was doing it now I would use 1/2" stock as 3/4" is too clunky but it was a good learning experience.
Keeps everything organized and made it easy to pack...
Dust mod, not perfect but a huge improvement. Larger home made knob is much easier to get off.

I think he has an instagram post way back in his feed.
Good tutorial in FFW March/April 1996.
I have one of the Record 52 vises with the stamped metal dogbones. It comes off if the vise racks at all. I put a locking collar on, which worked for a couple of years, but eventually friction wore a...
