You should mention what type of band saw your using and it's blade length.
But for general curves in up to 3/4" material I'd say a 6TPI 3/16" blade. That is what I use.
Because there are some made-in-Japan Makita's that rival anything drill made in the USA. Sorry, not to be un-patriotic.
I would seriously consider a near new used drill in the corded category. I'm sure there are many that feel they just don't use them enough. I'd say a USA made Milwaukee, or Japanese made Makita. ...
right now I'd say get this: http://www.amazon.com/Makita-BTD141-18-Volt-Lithium-Ion-Cordless/dp/B0019OZ3HQ

Is there a video of you ripping the plywood missing here?
Do you not have a band saw? I would suggest using a circle cutting jig on the band saw.
You might also want to look into the Laguna guides if your changing out the stock guides. There was a post on one of the forums of a guy who put some on an MM20:...
Should be noted that the red urethane tires he put on that saw in his rebuild process did not work out for him. There was another thread very recently where he said he's getting an original rubber...
You'll probably get a lot of responses that say hold out for an 8"
But that is a great jointer from what I've read and a good price if it is good shape. I have a 6" jointer and it is all i've...
demand a new table if the .007 dish and those little scratches are all that is wrong with the saw. Would you be happy then? Have you done any cutting yet?
Ok so maybe your not just trying to troll. There are quite a bit of abrasive scratches on parts of the top you show. Was there rust there you tried to remove with sandpaper? Please show a picture...
I was just being a smartass about the post being from a Laguna representitive. Sorry, that post saying how upset they were with a .007 dish in the table as if MM band saws were dropping the ball so...
That number 1 post by a new member has to be a joke. Or a Laguna rep..
dished to .007? That would make it nearly impossible to build anything :p
even though he does not own any of their stuff, he just wanted to keep them on their toes?
Send that one back since I doubt you'll ever be happy with it after all the fretting.
Then get a new Canadian made General and never check the top more than putting the straight edge to it and a...
But if a perfect top is not in the cards for this saw don't wait a year to resolve. I've used Uni's for nearly 30 years and all have had .01 or more I'm sure. I always thought that was tolerable so...
Lewis, have you ever had a saw with a perfect top? What saws have you used before this? Have you every worked in a woodshop?
Would you mind posting some pictures of the items you make that...
Are you saying that you tried to get tires from SCMI but that they could not provide them at all?
Just take a piece of plywood and run it on the jointer and cut out where it might hit, like a...
Are those new tires from SCMI?
Looks like you need to make a custom straight edge for getting the wheels coplaner and adjust those adjusting screws on the back of that Italian saw for the lower...
maybe you or someone else can fix the existing motor. Nice buy!
is there a bearing washer in the very center of the bearing to keep the nut away from the part of the bearing that spins? Also you can soak a little lube like Tri-flow into the bearing when you have...
I've always done the dance too and worried that it might ruin the tips somehow. I'll learn this method Thanks!
Band Saws take up a very small foot print really. Keep your eye out for something good. There is an AGAZANNI 18" BANDSAW for sale on CL in Berkley California, asking $1500
