HI Jim, Im still looking for a good mask too. My beard keeps getting in the way. I sanded some epoxy last month and I think it caused a case of pneumonia too.
Unfortunately , the 3M mask says it does not work with a beard.
I drill holes in the center at the beginning and end of the crack...more in between if needed,...turn a plug/ dowel of a contrasting wood as dry as the bowl and insert it into the hole using ca or...
I'm looking for the face shield......no luck so far....please let me know if you find a source.
Bill, do you still like the Vega?
I have had this for several months ......not ready for prime time.
Warning......when under slight stress, motor will suddenly lurch and double it's speed. The engineers are working on the problem....
Oops......I intended this for the Nova 2024 lathe.

It has beautiful reddish and white rays. It is hard but stable and worth the effort to get to the beauty. Also, it does irritate my nose.
Larry, do you have detailed instructions on your homemade jig?
thanks
Jim, did you ever get the dust collection parts I gave you hooked up?
Thanks y'all, I am getting better with each try. Do you know how to buy Reed's DVD
?
Reed, can you describe how you sharpen the Mcnaughtons? I have a 180 cbn wheel. What angle do you suggest? When you ground off the point, does it work better on say a Nova 1624?
thanks,
Steve
Thanks, I have had it for 5 years....had never used the 3 highest speeds till last week. Lots of vibration while turning pens, stoppers, and tops....louder than mini lathe. I know how to move the...
I need to align my pulleys too. I can't find a way to make sure they are in line. No way to square them with each other tha eyeballing it. Any suggestions?
thanks
I use most of the above methods. The makita power planer does a nice job of making a flat surface for a glue block. A friend scoots them across his jointer.
Several of us put medium ca glue on the face plate, then spray activator liberally on the blank, the push them together..good results.
Nice demo Jim,
Steve
Hi Reed, where can I buy your dvd on coring?
thanks
Hi folks, I took the burned out motor off my old Sears shop vac and used the old vac top and bottom as the cyclone part of the collector. I used plywood, caulk and duct tape to seal where the motor...
Is there a technical reason you are selling as I am considering buying that lathe?
thanks
Hi y'all. I put my old cpap machine in a small cabinet above my lathe with a filter on a hole to the outside of the shop. I connected my hose to a hole I cut on the top of a standard face shield. It...
Jim, thanks for the reply.
Did I mention that the blower sits separate from the cyclone and has a 15 inch impeller and is not attached on top like the ones others have built?
Are you saying that it...
Hi, I have the same Dayton blower/cyclone.(not yet installed) Grainger says using 6 inch pipe with a 1.5 horsepower motor will produce a static pressure of 3700 cfm.
In your experience, will motor...
