I'm not sure if it would like Kansas boards or not, but I can tell you it sure has a taste for nice air dried walnut from southeast Iowa. :D
You don't even need sandpaper, just plane...
I guess I feel it needs just the right piece of wood. Not for use on just any old board. :)
I working on using it more.
Thank you.
Kids have a tremendous capacity to learn and it's a shame that most school districts have eliminated their shop classes.
To help turn the tide our local woodturning club offers a young turners...
Thanks for the comments guys.
John, this is the only infill plane I have made to date. I have one other plane I made back in 1982, a 24 inch maple jointer that that I use frequently, when I get...
Nothing like pushing your own handmade plane down the length of a piece of 8/4 cherry and all you hear is the swish of the iron removing the finest shaving. :)
I don't use this plane very often...
I just lined my new tool chest with felt and used hot hide glue. Just heat and serve. :)
I added extra water for a very thin mix and brushed it on. The hide glue gives just enough slip to get a...
Thanks John.
I saw some really nice Japanese knuckle hinges on the web but they were $36 each. Wow this tool chest was going to cost a small fortune by the time I got it done.
The hinges...

The side handles are from Lee Valley and are solid brass. They are very nicely made and only $18.50 for the pair. It's interesting that these handles are an exact match to the handles on a...
I studied a few online sets of plans but most of the design is based on the H Gerstner and Sons tool chests. Most dimensions were just done by eyeball. Stock thickness was mostly half inch for the...
Thanks Keith
If you raise the front panel into place and close the lid, the drawers will only move about a quarter inch. Closing the lid engages two small pins that lock the panel so nothing...
I just finished this new tool chest and now it's time to go shopping for some tools. :D This one really isn't for shop tools, but for a collection of antique drafting instruments.
Built from...
Thanks guys.
These pieces follow the campaign or military chest style of furniture or at least my interpretation of what the campaign style should be.
The finish started with a coat of dilute...
Finished a few pieces for the family room this weekend. Picked up my granite table tops Friday and finished rubbing out the finish yesterday. Now it's time to enjoy.
Mahogany and jade green...
Ignore me, my brain isn't on yet this morning.

If shop lights are hung from chains and can move around they should be wired with flex cable not solid building wire. An easy solution is install boxes and outlets and then connect the fixtures...
On the Clearvue Mini gallery there are a number of ways people solved the crushing problem. One guy used a plastic trash can with steel hoops inside.
See the blue can in the center of the page.

:) I learned this from riding the city buses years ago. Just pull the cord to ring the bell and the driver would stop at the next stop. Now they have all the fancy touch switches but the old cords...
Your shop vac probably will generate better than 80 inches of water pressure if you stall the inlet. That's a stack of water 80 inches tall pressing on every square foot of any container you use. ...
How about this remote control? No wiring needed, just some cloths line, pulleys and some bungi cords for springs and few wood parts and your in business. Stretch the cord around the shop using...

This blade has really low mileage since I haven't ever used it much. I recently found it when I was looking for some other stuff and then remembered why it was in the back of the drawer.

Thanks for the reply.. I tried a zero clearance insert and it didn't do much so I tried it without any insert, same problem. I think for the time being I will stick with the tape and the...
This is one cut where the Unifence really pays off. It only takes a few seconds to pull the fence back to clear the blade, lock it in place and make the cut.
That was next on my list of things to try.
Thanks
