What I’ve found that determines if a bandsaw blades cuts well is a combination of the saw, material then the right blade for the material. The dryness of the wood sharpness of the blade combined with...
The problem I’ve found with bimetal blades is the gullets are small. For resawing let’s say 6 inches or taller a bigger gullet is better. They cut very slow because they are for metal.
Did you see...
I have a Bosch glide with a 12 inch chop master blade. Mine cuts pretty darn good for a miter saw. I think it’s a excellent trim saw.
For wide cross cuts in thick material I would prefer a radial...
In my area I idea of heirloom furniture isn’t something people think about.
I see society more into temporary furnishings.
Ive made a couple pieces that can be easily taken apart and put back...
I wet both surfaces when I’m gluing up. The one exception is gorilla glue the stuff that foams.
My reasoning is partly superstition and I discovered poor gluing practice in reclaimed furniture or...
Mike Book mark this place the screws are good small quadrant hinges are good. I think some of the hardware sold at Rockler is from this place. https://craft-inc.com/
That is a good looker for her age. What does the head look like
What I do to precisely measure parts I want the same length is lay them next to each other and use my finger tips. I can feel when they are the same length.
Good Luck
Excellent job arranging the boards I took a second look. Eight it is :)
I have no idea what you should do about the top. But I would sure like to see what old mahogany that’s harder then oak looks like. Are they almost black with a orange glow inside.
That’s a spectacular looking top. I count 7 boards not counting the ends.
Thanks for sharing with us.
Wood is here in California is very expensive. Last month we had a wind event that should have been a boon for me. But it wasn’t. Mostly pine and eucalyptus fell. Because I’m living or dying in the...
If had those boards I wouldn’t mind digging out the larvae and throwing them up on the shed. I have two blue jays that live in my oak tree. Always ready for a treat.
I have only scraps of wood right...
I would consider shingle oil to be on the same shelf as snake oil. Here in California most if not all shingles and shakes have to be fire treated.
Im a roofer
Yep your right I have forgotten about the dust.
Be careful with that dust I’m pretty sure it’s not supposed to be inside a human body.
That last piece of ebony I had. I polished it to perfection...
I’m impressed with the cut of the bed angle on the ebony. Ebony is a very unique wood to work brittle and unforgiving.
Nice work.
My guess is your jig or fixture is sending the wood through the cut at a slight angle. Try setting your fixture using the 5cut method.
Good Luck
I vote for the Harvey the stealthy black looks more serious.
Good Luck
How about scabbing on a clean batton to the bottom.
If you were not on the other side of the planet I would let you borrow mine.:) https://nanohone.com/
Have you tried Haps new version with hss bar. I’ve had one for a few months now it’s expensive but insanely cool how the stone can be worked.
Yes that’s correct it doesn’t get below freezing here very often. But my fingers do suffer in the winter. I keep my Tormek inside I find it’s much cleaner compared to the stone station.
I would like to share method I use the sharp skate from Hap. I really like it with the side sharpening method. It pretty easy to learn and I can use the surface of the stone differently then the push...
I really don’t see how your knives could be slipping upward unless the gibs are horribly defective or deformed.
The two best ways to set knives are the stick drag and dial indicator with a mushroom...
