Are you sure it's solid concrete? I had a porch just like that and it was hollow. Rented an electric jack hammer and in a short time the porch was a pile of rubble. Built a nice wood porch.

Don't know if that helps the OP or not, but it sure helped me! Thanks. I'd been having a hard time tracking new posts on threads until I switched to the linear mode.

Many forums work with a donation system. I wonder if that might work here? Solves the problem of access for newcomers and hopefully enough revenue to make it worthwhile for the owner to keep it...
I subscribed to FW's On-line content at the monthly rate last fall. I cancelled that (online) a couple of weeks ago. Got a prompt e-mail from them verifying that I was cancelled. No problem at all....
I'm always surprised when I see how upset some folks get when they discover that they aren't going to get a "free lunch" anymore. Such a sense of entitlement!
I think a lot of folks (experienced woodworkers) are saving their money for lumber as well, Simon. I read somewhere that a magazine has to repeat itself every few years, which tells me that they're...
I think that's definitely the basis for his thinking, as well as teaching. His mission is getting new folks into hand tool woodworking with minimal tools. Someone mentioned that planing a workbench...
I built one similar to that, based on one that Mike Pekovich did. I like the UHMW40 (or whatever it's called) that you added. I've got some, so think I'll add it to mine.

PS: Good job...
Reminds me of my Grandma. She sent for here birth certificate when she wanted to get her Golden Age Fishing license. Her birthday was in May.............her birth certificate had her birthday listed...
I had a wagon on my 40 year old workbench. I have a wagon vise on my newly finished workbench. Could I live without it..............yes. Would I want to live without it.............NO! It's like...
You don't say what angle you're using for the micro bevel. When you establish there primary at 25 degrees are you then turning the little knob to give you 2 degrees of micro bevel (i.e. 27 degrees)...
The one I hate, in the hospital, is when they come in in the evening and wake you up to give you your sleeping pill!

Good for you Ken. Please report back when you try it out. I've been thinking about ordering the same chisel (to replace my vintage Marples), since I seem to use that size a lot.

My new bench, that I just finished, to replace my 40 year old one has a flush vise. So far I'm really liking it. Also, I went with a regular vise instead of the quick release. I'm liking that better...
Paul Sellers mounts holders for his saws on the apron of his workbench. Works good for him and the type of woodworking he does. Speaking of which.......as I get more and more into hand woodworking, I...
My workbench is free standing. I can't think of anything I'd want less than tool storage at the back of that bench. OK.......that said........I have what I call a "back bench" along the wall behind...
Thanks David. They seem like really nice chisels.
Are the handles falling off as big an issue as it is sometimes reported to be?
I'm going to answer my own post here. I finally got to use my 3/8" Narex Premium chisel today. I mentioned earlier about thinking about cutting the top hoop off. Well .......I discovered that when...
I'm starting to discover why, when looking at workshop photos, there seems to be a wall of chisels of varying sizes and types.
Also, I'm learning that when doing a certain operation where a certain...
I bought a 3/8" Narex Premium chisel from LV to add to my set of vintage Marples Bluechip chisels. The chisel seems nice with a thin side bevel, but as someone said, the handle is bulky and pretty...
I wore one most of the time...........for all of the reasons already mentioned. However, now that I've gotten interested in doing more hand tool woodworking these last couple of months I find myself...
I found Paul's website a couple of months ago. I subscribed, even though I've only been working on one of his free builds. I believe in what he's trying to do and want to support it. He is the real...
If you turn the main bench 90 degrees and then work (stand) between the main bench and assembly bench (what I call my back bench) you have a handy place to store all the junk that ends up on the main...
