I have several oland style tools. When I run into a recess that has gone way out of round I remove the 3/8" oland bit and put in a dovetail router bit. Straight in then a bit to the side and there is...

Just noticed that Woodcraft is now selling Robust lathes And the temptaion just got closer to home!!:D
Thanks guys, the spring is seated in a cup cast into the side of the DP. A slightly larger cap fits over that once the spring is in place. Worked on it again today and thought I had it. One pull on...
I have an older baby drill press that has served me well for some time. It is a Chinese no-name machine that is surprisingly stout. The coil return spring broke away from the quill shaft. I removed...
Outstanding wood and you sure treated it well.
Brain it seems to me that with each and every one of your goblet/vase post's the pieces just keep getting better and better. This is my favorite so far. Well done Sir!
I bought mine the week they came out. Always concerned reaching around the steady to turn the lathe off while hollowing. Still find it to be the best accessory I ever bought. Took me 2 tries to get...
Last year a turning friend bought a new Oneway. He had the same problem with basement steps. He ended up removing the tailstock, banjo and the legs. Called two men and a truck (moving company) and...
Following along with Glen's ? about the Drosda Vids I would sure like to see the 2 Bill Grumbine vids's. Are they still out there?
I've never thought to try a recess on a taller end grain HF but it seems one could get a really nice foot in position befor ever hollowing out. Guess I've always worried about the strngth of the grip...

A scary story with a great ending. Hope you have a fast recovery with no more scares.
Still a breath taking piece Bob!
Better put your HF's on a high shelf right next to the ultra thin bowls. Now that is a real utilitarian bowl.:)
Mighty pretty and an impressive size too! Hope you continue to enjoy the new DVR also.
65 and thanks Kathy, happy to help celebrate!
I stopped using grease a few years ago on my jet 1442. Spray on Silicone seems to last much longer. Goes on wet but turns to a white powder in just seconds. Big box stores are the source.
Great news! So happy your turning drought is past:D
Delighted to hear a fix is finally on the way! Nova customer support is the one thing that worries me about having bought the DVR myself. It has been a fine lathe for me but Nova sure needs to go to...
I also have the DVR and you hardly know it is on. Started with the the jet 10" variable speed and it was so quiet I forgot it was on a few times and reached for the spinning bowl. Now my old...
