Just finished building my new Roubo-style workbench. I made it out of solid ash. Want to put some type of oil-based finish on it, mostly to keep glue from sticking to the top. I've been told to avoid...
I had a crappy Stanley block plane about 20 years ago that used disposable blades. Was yellow in color. Total garbage.
Saw this about Paul Sellers today. Poor guy! Have learned much from him.

I have this 8” one and like it a lot. It’s made by Rikon for Menards.

Everyone I’ve ever known who has that saw has the same blade height mechanism problem. It’s a well known issue. JET no longer sells the parts to repair it.
The punch plate only works with one of the three pads. It doesn’t work with the triangle or rectangle pads.
Got this great little sander today, but I’m having trouble finding sandpaper with the correct hole pattern. Two of the bases look similar to Festool, but I can’t afford that. Thoughts?

Green Scotchbrite pad and mineral spirits.
Grizzly sells them.

Make your own out of plywood.
Grizzly sells a floor mounted one. Might be worth a look.

Looks like maybe the lower guides need adjusting.
Ok - you folks talked me into getting the 10-326. Costs more but I’m sure I won’t regret it. ACME had it on sale, so I just placed my order. Thanks, everybody!

Maybe rent a Genie lift?
I had both of those Veritas planes. Same size and weight. I sold the 5-1/2 custom and kept the LA jack. No regrets.
SharkGuard all the way. Have had them on two different cabinet saws. Great quality and Lee Styron is great to work with.
Thanks, everybody. I bought the Harbor Freight one yesterday and it worked great for my needs.
I have some reclaimed boards that I need to check for hidden nails. Lumber Wizard is $150 and I’ll rarely use it. Any cheaper options that work well?
