There are a couple of threads here about restoring some of these. I did two of them myself. One was my Grandfathers, another a North Bros. I got on ebay. It was fun to clean up and give new life to...

In 2020, when visiting home, I found a saw in my Mother's garage I vaguely remembered. I'm pretty certain it was my Father's Father's saw. Disston, with the leaves carvings, but the wider 4 finger...

This is the truth. My workshop is half of my 2 car garage... floor space is at a premium. But every time I need to touch something up I lament the lack of a sharpening station. I have a little stand...

    Hi Stu/Scott,

I found them online... but the variety of sizes is kind of staggering. Hence my search for a recommendation for my application. I'm guessing the applicator/tip may be tied to the...

    Vintage Oil Can Reccomendation?

I absolutely hate how my "can" of 3-in-1 oil works. It is plastic and has a telescoping spout. I don't use it often, (and in fact have probably had this can for over a decade) but when I do it...

Well the maiden voyage of my Veritas BU joiner went well. In fact it removed the thickness in the end grain very quickly. I was surprised at how quickly in fact.

Thanks all for the suggestions. Initial work with the jointer was going OK, but was slow. I had already chamfered the end to avoid blow out.

Best Way To Take off 1/8" End Grain?

My sawing skills aren't great so I left some extra to clean up with the plane. However this seems like a lot to remove with the jointer plane. But not enough width to handsaw.

    Thoughts?

I humbly suggest you watch it. It does in no way advocate that end grain gluing is the new thing to do. Rather I found that it reinforced why we glue how we do for joinery.

  24. Planing Boards for Glued Up Panels, Sequence?

I'm working on a base cabinet for my tool chest. I decided to go 18" wide, so the 1x12 pine boards needed to be cut and glued up to get there.
