A couple of things to try (SWAG):
1. Disable Antivirus. A long shot, but maybe.
2. Update the drivers for the device. Technical and annoying to do if you do not know how. Might help.
3....
I use a hollow grind because:
It is what I own to sharpen; I own a Tormek so it will leave a hollow grind.
I have fast success because I simply register the "hollow" and go.
The hard...
If you have something that you can test on Linux compared to Windows, you can always use a Linux Boot Disk to see if things are running faster, but that is a far reach and not likely to be useful in...
I own two vacs, a Festool and the huge Craftsman that I purchased 17 years ago when I bought my house.
If my Festool broke, I would replace it with a Festool or a Fein. I like being able to plug...
No I'm thinking maybe I need that two fingers of brandy right now
Lots of good information here, I had not even considered hockey tape. Also, using styrofoam I don't know if long term should be happy with it, but it might actually do the job especially if we get...
We homeschool and this is a co-op where they are allowed to bring knives, real swords, and similar to school, I don't need any waivers. When the principal of this particular co-op needs a knife she...
For certain she would not be offended by the statement. Not only is dull safer, especially without a scabbard, but it will also hold up better. How large was your round-over? 1/4"? 1/2"?
Always...
My daughter (age 14) asked if we can make a wooden sword. I am a bit confused as to her precise need but I do know that she will be taken it to a school thing and she does work in the props group for...
I wanted to get something for use while sitting and carving; for example chip carving. I dropped a chisel once (doing dovetails) and it took a nice slice out of my calf. I do not expect an apron to...
You just described this stone pretty precisely. The slurry it raises is very fine and the stone is so smooth I never would have considered it as such.
4101 wood handle, 4201 polypropylene handle.
Both now have a metal cap on the top of the handle.
I think you want #4201 (1.25" wide). 4202 is not stiff. 4203 is the 1.5" stiff version.
What width are you using Steve?
I own a Kerf Maker from Ron Bonz as well. Some people make their own. This really helps me.
So you have used crystolone stones that behaved this way? I have owned probably 12 of these, but probably 6 we're Norton the rest were old and unknown brand. Never had one leave such a fine edge or...
Well whatever this tone is, it worked really well with the oil. Prior to the stone I had used a fine crystolone and although the edge was certainly usable on a kitchen knife, I wasn't really happy...
I have never used a razor home, but I have one at home. I might find it when I get back to Ohio and give that a try see if it behaves the same.
This particular stone is 6x2 by at least 3/4 maybe a...

I own a couple of fine crystolone stones from a couple different manufacturers, and none of them are nearly as fine as the stone is. It seems to be as fine if not finer than the...
Although it did not seem to really soak up oil, it seemed to create a slurry of mud from the stone. Initially I thought I was removing metal like crazy until I realized that what I was getting off...
That looks about right...
My first thought was that it might be An Hindustan, but I looked up a photo of one and it was a much lighter color.
I did not try sitting in the chair facing backwards, but there's a definite curve on the chair back.
It does look like the seed itself would be conducive to sitting backwards however.
For those of you in the neander forum who saw the really odd sharpening stone that I have no idea what it is, there was this chair.

So the shape of the chair just seems odd and...
