He was referring to his recommendation/question not yours.
I found the podcast went downhill once Ed and Matt left. The chemistry has just never been the same. I still enjoy it but it's just not the same.
I used veneer press screws for my bench on a bench. Not sure if that'd be what you want.
I'm no expert with my router planes but if I need to get a decent surface my last few passes are extremely light cuts, much like taking small bites with a chisel when dovetailing.
The auction site has become a terrible place to buy planes. Everyone who has a vintage plane thinks it's worth 100 bucks or more no matter the condition. It's even worse up here in canada with...
Yep. Some vendors will even email you discount codes if you leave things in your cart for a day or two.
Generally the straight bar does the majority of hollowing. The curved bar is usually for getting out around the shoulders of a hollow form where you can't reach with a straight bar, all depending...
I've got a few of those hoof rasps and they are great for material removal.
I have a couple of those braces hanging in my storage room, where I keep my nice big power drill for drilling those same bolt holes.
That may be the prettiest vise I've ever seen.
Yeah I'm sure older woodworkers never made the same mistakes because they just always knew better.🙄
I'd regrind them as negative rake scrapers for sure.
Paul sellers has been using automotive window cleaner for years. He swears by it. I use no name windex. Rob Cosman uses water and honerite mix. Some use water. Some use wd40. Some use simple green....
Hasn't caused any rust on my tools or diamond plates over the last 2 years
This reflects less on mechanics and more on how overly complicated/sensor driven vehicles have become.
I found sapele to be a pleasure to work with when I used it for tapered table legs
Woodturning is the only other hobby I've ever been involved in where I've found so much of the "if you don't do it my way you're doing it wrong" attitude.
Nice work. Some of my favorite bowls have been cottonwood(or at least what they call cottonwood in alberta). Some of the biggest trees around here and the grain can be great.
I've used a trend combination plate for a couple of years, no issues but I wanted an extra fine and found a deal on dmt diasharps. Both have performed very well
I turned green spruce once. Not something I will ever do again. A sticky mess.
I wouldn't do that. Just let them wear in naturally.
I understand that but this has been since they were new and both are only about a year old.
I have the trend 300/1000, as well as the dmt diasharp coarse, fine and extra fine. For most of my sharpening I use the dmt's but I definitely find the trend 300 cuts much faster than the dmt coarse...
I also use the hand sharpening demonstrated by Paul sellers. It's quick, and I've been getting much better at it. I regrind if necessary on sandpaper though.
