Yes my goal is to be able to plane figured walnut without tearout. the 735 is a night and day difference from my WEN planer which was crap. I'd like to worry less about grain direction and get...
Yeah I wish there were more online reviews of the other two. Maybe I'm just nitpicking. There seems to be inconsistencies between all of them. Thats what makes me nervous about spending 400-500
Is there any way to compare which is the best. I guess by my terms best would be the least tear out and sanding after planing.
Any idea what model this might be

Which tabletop did you mean? To get a helical seems like you'd be way over the 1k mark of the DW.
Greg, I'm not familiar with Hammer. I'm limited on space in my 12x20 shop. The dewalt or lunchbox upgrade is appealing for me. There are guys around with bigger setups, but I don't like being...
Thanks Dan, I've been watching for a DW but folks around here seem to think their used ones are still new.
yes, I know and agree, but I'm assessing my options. Its a lot of dough. How do you like the Dewalt setup?
Has anyone installed a Shelix planer head in a Wen planer? They don't list them on their site, but I know that a lot of those lunchbox planers are the same.
I like that idea, its why I have two drills. Pilot hole and drive.
I've replied to those that have commented. Sorry I didn't use the quote function.
Thanks for all the responses. I think i need a domino, upgrade sander and planer.
metric isn't a bad idea, but finding tools is challenging. I thought about this to make a regulation kubb set.
Thanks Patrick, good insight.
Fair enough. My father-in-law has the metal shop in front of my wood shop. Milling machine upgrades are kinda where my mind is at.
No domino yet, multi-tool yes. :) Thanks!
Got two ;)
As a father of four I have limited time in my shop. I was curious what the community's finds to be the biggest time saver on projects.
too bad there are no more sears...
I have it on a flip top with my jointed. Maybe I'll have to drive to Springfield in a couple of weeks for the tent sale at grizzly and see what they have.
I have a grizzly 6in with a helical and it's really nice. I don't know if they're lunchbox planer with quote helical cutterhead is the segmented head receipt elsewhere or if it's like their new...
I work with a lot of local black walnut and lumber. I'm in Kansas, but in an area with a lot of trees. I have access to two sawmills and consider myself lucky. A lot of the lumber I get is curly or...
Thanks, thats probably a realistic scenario for me.
Nick, do you use blast gates or move the hose from machine to machine?
