If you have your equipment as closed up as you can thinking that will help dust collection it is just the opposite of what you should do. Most machines have enough leakage to supply the needed motive...
To get the CFM thru the line you have to have enough leakage inside the machine that the CFM will flow that amount. The 4 inch system with the correct leakage will work better than a six inch system...
