Don't feel bad. I never even noticed that section and never even knew what a blog is. Still don't, and don't really care.
Restaurant suppliers and fiberglass supply stores sell sleeves of wax free paper cups. Probably on eBay too.
Thanks....
Another note for those new to epoxy: When even opening the top of colloidal silica thickener containers, wear breathing protection. The stuff is Very fine and floats in the air. You...
One question: What is neat epoxy resin hardener? I just don't understand what that means.
edited to add: As a correction to my earlier comment on epoxy, I should add a little clarification. ...
My experience as well, Andy. I haven't found an end to epoxy shelf life yet.
I'll ad another note about a cleaner. I had a boat business back in the 1980's where I sold boats and worked on them....
Great post Kevin, but I pulled out this one quote to ask for a comment to see if you worded this as you intended.
" the marine epoxies I have used have essentially no shelf life"
Gorgeous!!!
I was worried the last time we had a real estate appraiser for the county come through driving a Porsche SUV with a magnetic sign on the door, but was relieved to find out it was a confiscation from...
I keep assortments of both SAE and metric zerks in the mechanic shop. They need to be replaced more frequently than it seems like they out to.
Will they be redoing some of the lime plaster too? If so, I have some personal recipes they may be interested in.
I wonder if their parents owned that 3/4 million dollar boat.
Does the motor even have zerks on it? None of my Baldors do. I have one 1/4 hp Baldor that I bought cheap because the fan on it had been crushed on the TEFC motor. I needed it as a replacement in a...
While you have the zerks out, see if they will pass grease freely. If not, replace them with new ones.
EM is for electric motor
Screw the zerks out and see what it looks like. Probably won’t even need a half pump. You don’t want to put too much in. Best done by feel
I went over it earlier in the thread, and you even helped me decide back then. Priorities were as long lasting as possible while being the easiest to redo possible. The original stuff was very hard...
There are differences though. Our driveway is big enough for any size horse trailer to easily get in and out with plenty of parking, and has even handled semi-trucks once in a while. Over the...
EM8000 as first coats/primer and Totalboat Halcyon for topcoats. I had to look back through the thread to remember. There's probably a picture of the side of the sprayer box with the tip size and...
I don't think I ever went to school a day in my life without the little Solingen pocket knife that an Uncle brought back from Germany in WWII. I stopped carrying it, and any other knife when I was...
I was over there today with a new renter coming in, and remembered to take a picture. This is two years and three months since I started this thread about the garage doors. At first I thought there...
I never ask for advice in any store, including SW, but will continue to use their paint because I've found none better for houses. I just call them and tell them what I want, and they have it ready...
Totalboat is just Jamestown Distributors own brand name. They sold all the others for several decades, and still do, before adding their own product line. I'm sure it's fine. I've used their...
You could always buy an old Steinway piano and repurpose the wood. We have a 1932 and even the legs are solid Cuban Mahogany.
Acetone won't hurt fiberglass, but there are not many paints or primers it won't harm. I expect the door comes primed. I can't see them popping a door out of a mold with a gelcoat surface.
If...
I can't think of a good reason to use oil based paint for anything any more. Either use SW's best, or some even more expensive marine paint. Sherwin Williams Emerald Rain Refresh is amazing stuff...
