Yes, I can post some pictures of the spindles, retaining nut and special wrench. It might take me a day or two to get out to the shop, but I will get some photos for you.
I was able to remove the spindle last night. It ended up using a hammer and hitting the spanner wrench a few times to break the taper loose, after that it threaded out just fine. I was surprised to...
Mel,
Thanks for the explanation and reply. I wasn't expecting the manual to be of much help, they usually never are. I think I understand how the spindle is supposed to come out now. I was...
I purchased a Rockwell RS-15 shaper and Forest City power feeder at an auction this weekend. The shaper is a 1982 model, 5 hp single phase. With the shaper I got the 3/4" spindle and 1 1/4"...
Dave, I found the DM at an estate auction in Port Washington about a year ago. I believe the gentleman that had it purchased it new. It was definitely hard to part with, but I am sure Brian will...
Glad to see it made the trip unharmed. I was a bit nervous, I had never crated or shipped a large machine before. Thanks again!!
If you plan on adding more 3 phase equipment in the future a rotary phase converter is a good option. If you plan on going the VFD route I would check with Jack Forsberg. He sells VFDs that are...
Try cleaning and waxing the bed first, that usually takes care of feeding issues.
I think I paid right around $33-$35 each from Western Roller.
I have ordered a couple sets from Western Roller, not the cheapest option but a great product. I ordered the yellow ones, 70 durometer if I remember correctly.
Very impressive Jack! Definitely a dream shop.
Just a final couple pictures, got everything done except installing the knives and fabricating a dust hood.
Since I have a phase converter already, I went ahead pulled the motor which wasn't...
Yes it is Rust-Oleum Hammered Deep Green, I sprayed the larger pieces with my Apollo HVLP and used rattle cans on the smaller stuff. I really like the finish as well, seems to hold up really well.

Just thought I would update this thread with some pictures of the progress on the planer, hopefully not long now and it will be making chips.

I just picked up the Rockwell planer via Craigslist. I don't need another planer, but I like to restore machinery and this one stood out as one that I have never seen before, nor could I find much...
Like I said, I would be on my way to get it if it was closer. Some pictures from the sellers ad.

I say grab it fast, at that price it won't last long. Buy the mortiser and bits that he has also. If it was about 8 hours closer to me I would already be on my way to get it, fix it and sell it. ...
The arm has very little to no sag when extended out. The Knapp has a thick steel base, probably close to 3/8" thick.
Timely thread, I just built a copy for my Knapp saw/shaper. Just have to paint it yet. Thanks to Dave Kumm for letting me borrow yours to copy. Sorry about the pictures, not sure why they rotated....
For just over your budget of $2000 I just yesterday picked up this Knapp saw/shaper combo off of Craigslist. It has a 60" slider, two 4 hp motors, single phase. Not a lot of these out there, and I...
I also have a CU300 combo. Very well designed and easy changeover. It bought it at an auction for $2200, which I think was a steal. The J/P is nice and changeover is very quick. I also have a...
Thanks for the info everyone. I am going to get it next Sat. Trying to decide if it will fit on my utility trailer which will just fit a 4x8 sheet of ply. Otherwise I have access to a 14 foot...
I bought a 2003 CU300 smart at an auction today for what I think is a great price. I have only seen pictures so far, I was bidding by phone. Can someone give me dimensions of the unit so I can see...
There is a Centauro CL 900 on Madison, WI C-list right now that looks real nice. Priced at $2750.
