I routed out the top a bit so it slide under. Finished product now!
Thanks Richard, do I need to do anything to get it under the white stair plate? The stair extends under it a bit and leaves a gap.
One thought i had was to run an oscillating saw on the plate to make room for the stair nose to slide under and go the full length of the stair.

Should the riser sit on top of the treads? I've seen it mentioned either way: sitting on top of the previous tread or install riser and push tread up to it. If either works what's the pros and cons...
I had a few folks mention expansion concerns but length wise I didn't initial have a concern until they said it. I'm glad to hear i don't need a small gap as the touch up work to remove a noticeable...
Idea we are going for is no molding since there is already a side skirt molding that goes down to where the carpet meets.
After cutting the stair tread to length using a jig to measure. Should the tread have a tight fit on a closed stair case or should I trim them down to leave a slight gap? Any help appreciated.
