Has anyone been using a 6" pad either on the ETS 125 or the Mirka 5" sander...? I use both of mine and like them both, but probably should have bought the 6" Mirka (which I know has an "approved" 5"...
I had the same problem... just took a small diamond file (maybe 1k grit or so...?) and just took a few strokes on the sharp edges to break the edge... works like a charm and no more slicing...
A while back I made this cabinet to keep everything organized... putting it right next to the sink ended up being a good idea, and when I added the removable tray I really can keep the waterstone...
Pretty sure you wouldn't be unhappy with the bigger saw... I keep my 3/4" carbide resaw king blade on 75% of the time, since I use it for ripping all the time... I use handsaws most of the time,...
My 2 cents... I had a Grizzly like you are looking at... 14" - 1hp... it kinda sorta worked for resawing, but was frustrating to use, only could resaw with a 3/8" blade half decently, and was...
I built this a few months ago, and it is working great... fold down front with the brackets I used is more than strong enough, and with a couple of coats of marine varnish on the inside, and wiping...
I just tried my Woodslicer out last night on resawing some cherry veneers... had a 1/2" Starret blade on and did one cut with that, and then changed the blade out to the Woodslicer... (1/2"...

I have one of the old original eclipse guides, and didn't know that there was an alternative to the LN version until I saw your post... if you have used both of them, and had to pick...
I was one of the guys that posted when I was having problems with my DW735 with the Shelix head when trying to take heavier passes in white oak and maple... the overload breaker on the unit kept on...
I have a Cutech 8" with the carbide inserts, and it works great, especially on stock less than 4'... the extensions on the bed work well as long as you don't try to push it too far... great for my...
I just had to take a min to write a thank you to Lee Valley... Like many others, when I got the notice for the seconds sale, I spent an hour or so trying to get an order in for a RH shooting board...
I was wondering if having it on a 20 amp line might help... I'll have to check with the electricians that wired it and see if that is an option...
I ordered a replacement breaker (OEM part from...
Thanks all... I don't really feel like frying the motor (I do like the planer...) and the finish from the Shelix head (for my purposes...) is worth the extra time... I might order a replacement...
I have a Dewalt 735, and replaced the blades with a Shelix head... planer works great, and gives a great finish when planing... Problem is that it shuts down frequently and I have to wait a few...
Having been down this road over the last year, I would -highly- recommend not going with a cheap kanna... They are difficult to set up properly (although it can be done...) and the blade will most...
I'll throw in my two cents (and experience) on this... I wanted to get into using a kanna about a year ago, and read everything I could, including BH's blog posts... watched a whole bunch of...
Filing at an angle was the problem... I took some time this weekend and reshaped the teeth filing straight across, and got it in much better shape... I futzed up the rake angle, putting way too...
got it... thanks...

Thanks... I'll joint it (again) tonight and just work on getting the teeth profiles right, then re-joint and do the final sharpening... it's a beautiful saw and hopefully I can get this right... ...
I have an old Disston that the teeth were horrendous... (attached) Over the past 9 months or so I have collected quite a few old handsaws, and have had quite a bit of luck with sharpening... no...
I am working on a sapele entry table... wanted to put a finish on it that is a deeper and darker color... like the finish Schwarz uses on his campaign chairs (black wax on the sapele...) but...
My 2 cents... I have a small basement workshop, and got a Festool TS55 and an MFT table to start... already had a Grizzly 14" bandsaw, and did think about a table saw, but really don't have the...
Got these after reading Stan's blog...

Thanks for all of the advice... I just called Brian at Holbren (where I got the Byrd head...) about getting some replacement bolts, and he reiterated the same advice that all of you had on here... ...
