I have the Jet 1221VS, and the belt is of very good quality. It is a great midi lathe. The belt adjustment is a ratcheting type, and very easy to adjust. I think Jet lathes are on sale right now.

Jet does have 10% off sales pretty often and once in a while a 15% off sale at many of the Jet dealers. The sales often include free shipping as well. I have the 1640EVS, and think very highly of it.
