Thanks all. I was sort of guessing that most people didn't bother and were fine.

Hi. I just purchased an Atoma 400 diamond plate to be used exclusively for flattening waterstones. I've seen a few suggestions in old threads here that it may extend the life of the stone to seal...
Just realized you might be the same person I responded to on OLF. If so, sorry for the flood of similar advice!
Hello! I'm in the middle of building my first guitar as well. I am following Kinkead's book and using his plans (kinda). If you are following his procedures, you might want to look into the neck...
I don't know why people complain about sharpening threads. I love all the conflicting opinions! Makes for great reading. I guess maybe I'm just new to the game and I'll get tired of all this...
Here's my bench. It's not fancy. I think it's around 50" long and something like 27" deep. I tried to make a kind of 'mini ruobo'. Pretty much patched it together from
construction lumber I got...
I wanted the story about the vintage looking butt chisel in the middle. It's kind of ugly, but also cool. I wonder if the good steel is still present all the way back at the base of the original...
oh I just realized you were asking about building your new bench. I thought you were interested in fixing your old bench until your new one was done. Gussets on a new bench don't make any sense. ...
I've not actually done this, but adding gussets/brackets (triangular wood chunks?) to the corners of the joints is something I've heard done. That way the joints will wrack less.

I am a beginner, so I was thinking of the things I've purchased that I love and use all the time, and it brought to mind my square. I bought the Veritas 6 inch double square and I love it and use it...

I just put together the drill press. Thus the mess. It was the second one I put together. I bought the cheapish Porter Cable press and returned it because the chuck wobbled like crazy no...
I'm just a beginner so take my advice for what it's worth, but I'm in the middle of building my first, and I have Kinkead, Cumpiano, and Sloane. I started with Kinkead because it comes with plans...

Here are some I've just purchased. The wide chisel is "Kronan Eskiltuna" The edge was rolled badly when I got it so I feared it was soft, but it seems ok so far. It has a nice design and...
I think I'd want my customers to not feel hesitant to buy my product. On average I bet they sell more tools this way. The cost of returns must be worth it.
I only have one lee valley wheel guage. I have a feeling that will eventually change. I think I'll make one someday, something like the sexy ones I see pictures of with dark exotic wood and shiny...
I'm an electrician and I grabbed a foot long offcut of 3" rigid aluminum conduit. So electrical shops could be another source. That pipe is expensive though so they might be stingy with it. If you...
