Well I've started doing the redo already. so it's definitely going to be 4" :)
I have to mate the cyclone together still, move a table over 4" to fit the trash can under it, figure out a way to...
Maybe I'm missing something but if you're going to have it setup in the shop, it sounds like you're just adding cost/headache for having it be battery powered vs plugin.
I picked up a bunch of 4" pvc (drainage) tonight.
There were better options for ABS but it was a lot pricier (over 2x the cost). There were better regular PVC options too but again they were a lot...
ooooh that's a really good idea - I'll have to measure the sweeps and see what ones are more gentle :)
Why is this so complicated, hahahaha.
It looks like you can get 4" pvc sweeps at Menards -...
After pricing out various options while traveling for Thanksgiving, I think I'm going to go to Menards and pick up a bunch of 4" pvc -- it'll be a big improvement over my existing setup anyways. And...
I'm starting to wonder if I should get an anemometer and measure my setup now, then switch it all over to proper 4" (or 6" or 5") and see how much this conversation even matters from an airflow...
Honestly my existing setup works... surprisingly ok right now. I'm shocked how well it works given how hacky it is. But I do have to change things given where I moved tools. Which has me considering...
The biggest question I have is if I do 6" pipe everywhere if my 5" through the Super Dust Deputy is going to be a limit to make it kinda pointless.
One of the perks of having a small shop - less needed :)
I think I'll go with 5" - from what I can tell the 6" plastic connectors are significantly more expensive than the 4" ones and so the...
Sanity checking, if I go 5" then I'll have to buy:
* 6" to 5" reducer for dust collector inlet
* 5" flex hose, from cyclone to DC
* 5" metal pieces for the run along the wall
* 5" 45s to get...
I am redoing my absolutely awful dust collection setup. Right now I have a setup with (picture at bottom):
* Oneida 4/5 super dust deputy
* Shop Fox 1.5hp dust collector
* wynn filter
I'm...
I do have a 36" cabinet saw but it's sometimes a pain to cut longer things in - for example I have some 6 foot 12" wide panels I need to cut to about 49" in length and while I can manhandle them onto...
I've had a giant footprint miter saw for years and I finally realized I don't have space for it - the 12" cobalt saw from Lowes on top of a mobile stand.
I'm looking for a replacement which is...
Just ordered a Powermatic 60HH (off Amazon, of all places, fulfilled by Acme but I get 5% cash back and free shipping via Amazon prime card).
Excited for it to come!
Now I have to figure out...
I guess one way to think about this is worst case, it's a long arduous process to tune a dovetail jointer vs parallelogram I basically spend the 4-6 hours and save $500 and buy myself a $500...
Honestly I don't have a good answer for this.
I've not owned a jointer before but expect I will not own another one after this. Maybe I just get a cheaper dovetail one and call it good?
Well. I can safely say I do not need a 24" jointer :)
I probably would enjoy a 12" one but honestly for 99% of what I do/will do an 8" one will be fine.
Nope, I live in Minnesota :(
If there's anything I'm getting from this thread and all the amazing advice it's that essentially no one has been upset with their 8" plus jointer. And that it seems...
Yeah, that same PJ882-HH/mobile base new would be a lot more now....
Prices on all jointers are kinda insane right now.
yeah I've not had any luck finding a used one either -- either basically MSRP, junk, or non-existent.
I've been tempted to get the PJ-882HH for a while. Maybe I should just bite the bullet and buy it on Amazon.
Something weird I noticed is there are no more 8" powermatic jointers listed on their website. I wonder if that's a temporary glitch?
