There should be a sign next to the on/off switch of every power tool that says. If you do not show me proper respect I will hurt you.
Hope you have a quick recovery.

Try increasing the sharpening angle by a degree or two on a 8000 or higher polishing stone. The higher angle should focus the polishing where the burr meets what will be finished edge.

With the modern metals we have today breaking off a corner could happen but I think in most cases it would be a situation of where the operator had the philosophy of why sharpen when I can just hit...
The new saws look like a larger version of the small rip and crosscut. They use the same material for the back.

Hi Glenn
Sorry to hear about your accident. Years back while in high school I lost a 1/2 inch off the end of my left ring finger in a jointer accident. It happens way to fast, and is all because...
Hi Bob
Take a shooting board with you. I have rarely seen a chop saw or radial arm saw cut a true 90 deg. Show them it's fast, easy and dead square.

I like a phrase Ronald Reagan used with the Russians. "Trust but verify". As Stanley has steadfastly pointed out it makes sense to have standards used only for verification of one's...
I have been taught by a wise person to inspect what you expect. If you expect the joint to come out square and don't inspect the square you laid out the joint with then don't expect the joint to come...
Stanley I think you are spot on and John your observations on this thread are insightful.
The first error some are making about the use of precision tools is that they have to be used in daily...

I agree and let me add the interior designer's to the list that think it is ok to paint oak, cherry, and mahogany moldings and cabinets. Some people do not know fine wood nor have they been...

Good for you!! The opportunity for taking woodworking classes when you live in Alaska must be difficult. Glad to see you wen't all out for the five day session in Washington. Rob is a good...
Jim I think the gloat about the cinnamon role was worth the quarter you had to spend on the ruler to have "wood" content in your post.

Thanks George a word of encouragement coming from a woodworker with your skills is very much appreciated.

I use 4'X6' horse stall mats around my work bench and love them. Not only do the save my feet but I knocked my LN #7 plane off the bench the other day and the 3/4 thick matt saved it from damage....
Pro versions of the surface cleaner usually take at least a 4 gpm machine to run them properly. For decks a good oxy based cleaner is wonderful. Put it on with a pump up sprayer and rinse with garden...
The reason I switched to Mac is because I got a bad virus days after installing and updating virus protection software. When I complained to the company they said that I got a brand new virus that...
Switch to Mac and don't look back.

Hello Megan
It's good to know that the workbench class I signed up for will have an instructor.

Anyone planning on attending?

Nice addition to the small pow plane. I like your idea of making one tool more versatile instead of a dedicated tool for each task. Could I ask you to seriously consider making blades for...
Perhaps we need to get to the real issue. Why is it that some people think they get to say, frown upon or disparage how other people spend their money? If a person earns money it belongs to them it...
This thread has proven to be an interesting read. It is amazing how people change their perspective when they are buying something versus selling something. When a wood worker sells that fine example...
Hi George
I just finished a class with Mary May http://www.marymaycarving.com/ at our local Wood Craft store. I was impressed with Mary's ability not only as a carver but as an instructor as well....
