Thanks for the advice. It is a knockdown textured ceiling and walls. There will be some drywall patches done by a professional. Any tips on how to get the paint sheen to match. It seems that I see drywall repairs where the texture matches by the patch has a slightly different paint sheen.

Make sure patches are sanded and blended well. That for me means three coats of int compound. One to fill the hole generally. Then sand smooth and hit it again not worrying about perfection but get it better. Then sand again and hit with what I call a polish coat. You kind while the last one on and off.
Then sand with 220 and spot with oil primer with a 3/8 nap roller. Zinnzer cover stain is a good one..
