How do I put custom wood color into a sketchup drawing?

I can't seem to figure out how to add to the stock selection of wood choices in Sketchup. I know people have figured out how to add custom wood selections. I need walnut, specifically. How do I do that?

Find an image of the wood you want to use.
Save it to some location on your computer.
In SketchUp, draw a face onto which to apply the material image.
Go to File>Import.
Set the file type to match that of the image.
Select Use as texture.
Select the file.
Click Open.
Click and drag the image diagonally across the surface.

Now you have the image in the In Model library. Save it to the Wood library for later use.
Open Window>Materials.
Click on the little + in the upper right corner of the Materials box to open the secondary pane.
Set the top one to In Model if it isn't already there: click on the house icon.
Set the lower pane to Wood.
Click and drag the thumbnail from the In Model pane to the Wood pane.
