Bosch 1582VS Jigsaw blade change troubles ???
So I have one of the Bosch jig saws w the orange center button on the top knob.
To change blade, one pushes in the orange button.
I have had some troubles since Day One w blade changing...
Mechanism seems intermittently weird.
Sometimes seems to take fooling around to get the blade grabbed and clamped.
You Guys w these saws know what I am talking about.
Yes, I have read and re read the instructions.
Yes, I am using the correct blades.
Even Branded Bosch.
Used it just fine after installing new blade few days ago.
Removed blade to make saw fit in case.
Today, tried to re install blade...
No matter what I did, it will not "Grab" and tighten up.
**** At this point, I have NOOO idea how many times I have turned it in both directions.
Gave up after 15 minutes of trying different things.
I have NO clue what kind of clamp mechanism is in there..
Seems kinda mysterious.
Do I have a defective form Day One Saw ??
Always acted intermittently... sometimes grabs and tightens right away, other times need to jack w it for a few tries.
I have had it for years, purchased new, but VERY gently and seldom used.
What is going on ??

Bosch 1582VS Jigsaw blade change troubles ???
Wow..
I'm really surprised I had no answers here.
Not complaining,
What I mean is that this particular saw as far as I know was very highly regarded for yearsss,
So I thoght alot of y'all would have one.
Anyway,
Problem solved.
I was apprehensive, but removed the two phillips head screws holding on plastic top housing where the big knob is.
No problem, nothing went flyin.
Found that the little spring shown in the parts diagram was all damaged for approx 12% of it's length.
Cut off the damaged portion, and gently stretched spring back to original length..
Reinserted.
All good now.
It turns out the VERY important thing w this saw is - Do NOT loosen knob more than 4 turns MAX.
If you do, bad things can happen.
Unfortunately, it does NOT say this in the manual, nor is there anykinda "Stop" or anything that limits it.
Also, according to some, I'm not sure it matters, .. NOT shown in manual.. set the orbit selector to
" III " before blade changing.
