Here's another question for the "gurus" of dust collection....
If I read Bill's site correctly, flex hose has up to 9 times the air resistance as smooth walled PVC pipe. So, given that I have a 15' flex hose, and I'm generally satisfied with the results, that means I could run the equivalent of 135 feet of 4" PVC and get the same results. Of course, I didn't factor in the PVC fittings, nor the flex hose that'll be necessary to connect to some of my machines, but I won't need anywhere close to 135 feet.
So it seems that if I keep my runs as short as possible, with as few 90-degree bends as possible and as little flex hose as possible, I should be OK.
Thanks again for all the help, guys. I really appreciate it!
Sam,
I think you've got it: short runs, few bends and if any, should be as gradual as possible, short sections of flex....yadda, yadda, yadda! :)
