Hello everyone, This is a small bowl I made from a piece of scrap Walnut left from a table project a while back. It was good practice for working end grain. I love woodturning.

That is a very nice turning, but I might have called it a goblet. But, what's in a name. Still good looking.
Tom, thanks for looking. It does look like a goblet. I called it a bowl because I got the idea from the serving bowls they had at Swensons Ice Cream Shop in Raleigh, NC. Swensons is closed now. I sure do miss it.
That's some great looking walnut and you made a really cool goblet / bowl.
Please tell us the finishing process Eugene.

Well heck! Fill that puppy with ice cream and enjoy your beautiful turning all over again!...Bill..
Yep and if you put a lid on it ,it would be a box

Eugene - no matter what name you want to attach to the form - you did good! Nice curves, good proportions and a soft finish! Good job! What did you use to seal the wood?
I have to say a very nice looking goblet Eugene. Turn a lid for the next one and you will have a lidded box. Great looking piece.
Very nice "object". The color is dark for walnut, did you stain it? In any case it is a beautiful piece. :D

Hello everyone. Thanks for all of the comments. I need to be more complete with my posts. I forgot to put the finish and the deminsions in my original post. The finish is just bees wax and linseed oil like Richard Raffan does on his DVD. The only difference is I did the process three time. Then I used a hand towel to buff it while it was spinning at about 1800 RPM. I don't own a buffing system yet. I hope to get one for my lathe soon. I'm just trying to learn how to use the tools now. The deminsions are 3-1/8" X 6-3/8". Thanks again for all of the comments and help that I have received from the people on this forum.
Eugene....regardless of what you call it...you have the right form, proportions, gorgous wood and nice finish!
Good job on the bowl Eugene. I like the shape and finish.
Very nice piece, Eugene!
I can see putting some Butter Pecan in it! Great looking
Ice cream bowl!
I'd say you did well! I think it's beautiful, and now, if you like to turn Black Walnut, you've got the bug, bad!! A lot of people don't like to turn BW, but I think it shines up well. Good job! Sent you a PM, ref buffing system.
