Hi Joe
I'm tuning up an Scmi f3a and came across your post. Wondering if you had any problem adjusting the eccentric bushings to adjust the tables to coplaner? Mine are stuck solid. My unit is 40 years old so perhaps age as got them sticking but hoping there's a simple fix rather than taking the whole machine apart. Any ideas? Thanks much!

Clarification on my Sketchup model: I actually ordered the 80" length. The model depicts the full +/- wagon travel, not the static wagon size. I found this easier to use in laying out the shop.

You mentioned earlier that you liked the high-speed router spindle. My local sales rep (Carl) does not recommend this spindle, but it seems like a good idea to me. Do you actually prefer using this spindle to a dedicated router station, or do you have a separate router table also?
Did you order a power-feeder for the shaper? If so, which model do you recommend? Please send a list of recommended shaper and saw options.

I do have the precision adjust on the rip fence, but I've only used the rip fence a few times. One of the biggest improvements I've made is air clamps. Several on the FOG have "Big Squeeze" clamps. They were invented and productized by Brian Lamb. He later sold the design and rights to another company. Apparently that company is not building them now. Fortunately Brian lives in the Phoenix area and he was willing to show me how to make my own. I've attached some pics. I also built my own parallel cutting jig.

In looking at your sketchup model, it looks like your slider won't have enough travel. I think the travel on mine with a 9 ft slider is 22 ft. You'll need double the slide length plus 18-24", or about 180-184". I ended up putting the slider more on a wall so I wouldn't have to walk around it all the time. I know some guys put it at an angle in the shop to so they don't have to walk around it so much.

Thanks for the replies below. I am about to place my order for the KF700S: 1100 outrigger and 31" rip since I've limited space in the garage. The slider is 80" - should be fine for nearly all of my work and I can still plan to use the Festool for the occassional full-sheet rip.

Interesting comments about the router spindle, since I have a router built into the extension on my current contractor saw and I would like to avoid a separate router table if possible. A sketchup model of my shop setup is available at http://www.innovative-dsp.com/ftp/Sk...rage%20SU8.skp.

I was planning to order the fine-adjust, 31" rip fence. Do you think that's worthwhile, or should I just ignore any rip fence upgrades? I have the Incra fence now and love it, but I'm hoping to repurpose it as a parallel rip guide similar to that used by Sam Blasco. Your thoughts?

Hello Joe -

I am considering the purchase of the KF700S and saw that you have a KF700SP. Since virtually everything from Felder is optional, what "options" do you consider most worthwhile now that you've had your system for a while? For instance, should I spring for the power feeder immediately and is the standard 80" slider too short?

I have been looking for a Porter Cable 5361 Router base for the Porter Cable 5362 Speedmatic Router and I stumbled upon your posting on this site from 11-08-2008 where you stated you had four of these bases. I read that you were using a few of them and was wondering if you would be interested in selling just one of them. I 'd like to purchase it from you if you'd be so inclined. Please let me know. Joe, I am interested in the terminus cutter head you've got for the Powermatic 60. Is the 5/8" shaft the standard for the PM 60?

Is this a straight forward replacement for the stock cutter head? Does it come with instructions?
