    Phil, I use 1/8" up to 1/2" depending on what I am working on. My most used are the 1/4 and 5/16". When I am doing larger, deeper HF's I will go with the bigger bits as the handles are longer and heavier.

    sorry about taking soooo long to reply Phil. I just noticed the message. Yes it is hollow and does take a bit of doing. A hollowing tool , store bought or home made is needed, Mine is home made and looks like the elbo tool. Thanks for the compliment,,,Bill..`

Hey all, I took up turning a few years back, but due to my circumstances I don't get to turn as much as I would like to. I made my first bowl at Pete Jordan's house, with tons of help from him of course. I made my first pen around Christmas, and just this week turned my first rough-out bowl.(everything else has been dry).
