Re: scoring for dado wall

I have the same problem, across the grain using antique dado planes. I now layout with a knife, and score as I go deeper.

Tearout like this is especially pronounced in more heavily figured species - less a problem in the sort of wood used when dado planes were "cutting edge" technology.
