About Wayne Lomman
- Biography:
- Worked with timber for the past 40 years. Still use some of my fathers tools and a vise that my blacksmith grandfather hand forged. I live in Tasmania which is the island in the south of Australia. I have a grazing property at the edge of civilisation which is as close to a city or town that I am prepared to live...
I completed a 7000 square foot Georgian renovation and extension in the hills behind Adelaide South Australia recently. My scope of work was all timberwork, joinery and furnishing. It took two and a half years.
Late 2016 I returned to the dark side and took up a senior role at a CNC engineering shop back in Tasmania. It is a challenging role dealing with special steels and global markets.
In my own workshop I work with all timbers but especially love the few Australian conifers - they are all ancient, fine grained and aromatic. Huon Pine and Celerytop Pine are the best - both timbers are beautiful to work with and turn.
