  1. I bought from American Ultraviolet. The have a small 6" bulb, 300 watt per inch for about three grand (last I checked - 17 years ago). My 48" light is likely around 14 grand, and I believe there are lower cost companies out nowdays. I haven't shopped around for long time. I might consider selling my 48" unit. The ballast is about 400 lbs.
