Hi I'm new here to the forum...I have a question about acrylic paint. I have just started painting some relief carvings that I make of dogs. I am not a painter and know basically nothing about it. I would like some advice about applying a finish coat. What I've done so far is sealed the dog portion of the painting with shellac, then painted with acrylic paint mixed with mostly matte medium and very little water. I then oiled the unpainted portion of the carving with Tried and True Danish oil. I've heard I can leave the acrylic portion alone at this point and I'm done. I don't want a high-gloss finish. Is it safe to leave it alone at this point or does the paint need a protective finish? Thanks for your advice, I'm not sure how to post images... Alicia
