    Tom,
Thanks for the warm welcome. I would love to meet you at your studio. I am semi retired and available almost anytime. All I need is an address as my GPS is pretty smart. Looking forward to meeting you.
    Thanks again,
    Steve Kennedy

I'll do that. I worked at John Tanner State Park in Carrollton for two years, so I know that area fairly well.

Tom -Where are you in Georgia? If you're ever in the Madison/Rutledge area and don't mind a field trip, I can show you around Hard Labor Creek State Park.

  4. Tom, you might try the Old Tools board (oldtools@ruckus.law.cornell.edu) and it's related site Galoot Central (GalootCentral.com). They love pics! Post them on Photobucket or someplace and reference the link in your post. Best regards, Tom

    Tom,
I EM'd you a couple of years ago about a carver's bench that I up-graded and up-sized. I sent you a few pictures of the new base and extended width to the top. Anyhow, to the point... I recently came across an old wooden plane by A. McKenzie of Aberdeen, and couldn't leave it in Chattanooga. Its in remarkably good condition... within .010" flat sole (rocker, but no twist), wedge and abutments are in very good shape.. no cracks in the abutments... and the closed tote is crisp, without chips. The plane body is about 3"x3"x22" overall, beech I think, with a 2 1/2" Robt Sorby iron and cap. Other than a few minor scratches on the sole and evidence of hammer strikes on the ends, wedge and iron, it doesn't seem to have seen much use. At some point, someone varnished everything but the sole, but it just shows the grain better. The iron and cap have a nice dark patina. Who do you suggest I contact for a little more insight into the plane. Any help in this area would be appreciated. Tom
